Way to go, onetohunt! Looking forward to seeing those pics! I'll be back out in the morning, weather permitting. Supposed to be very windy and rain coming in around 8:00-9:00 a.m. I'll get out for a little bit at least.

and not for the story.
I went to Kansas on Friday and everything went right for a change. Got a break in the weather it had been storming pretty hard and the wind had laid down. I put my decoy out in a well known turkey area and made a few calls and set and waited. It wasn't to long before a couple of hens made there way through. I made a couple of hard clucks and cut pretty quick on the slate and a couple of gobblers sounded of to my left. Great I was thinking. Before long they made their way out in front of me but there was 3 birds strutting and about 10 hens now. A dream come true!! I had 2 tags for Kansas and you can shoot both birds the same day there so everything was looking good. I kept my eye on the biggest bird and sized up the other two as well as I could without spooking anything. I thought the second biggest bird had finally lined up pretty close to the big bird but it ended up being the smallest of the three when I pulled the trigger with them at about 30 yards. The Winchester Super X2 sounded off and sent the Hevi-Shot blend on its way with the 3 1/2 doing the job. It put the big bird down without a flop and the other bird was knocked down as well but it needed a followup shot on him. I got up to the two and was very pleased to say the least. The second bird was smaller than the bird that I thought I was doubling up on, but hey, I'm not complaining. I sent a few pics and here are the stats on the two birds.
1st bird
23 lbs
10 1/2 beard
right spur 7/8
left spur 7/8
eastern
Your score is 23 + 8.75 + 8.75 + 21 = 61.5 (scored by JW)

2nd bird
20 lbs
5 7/8 beard
right spur 3/4
left spur 7/8
eastern
Your score is 20 + 8.75 + 7.5 + 11.75 = 48 (scored by JW)
Both of the birds were probably 2 1/2 year olds, the second bird just didn't have much of a beard? Oh well, Missouri season starts tomorrow and I will be after another one!!

Guys I shot a good bird but all my pics went to hell when I was trying to upload them except for one. I shot a double beard Friday that I have videos of. I do have one good pic of the three bearded bird but it doesn't show the smaller beards. Which bird should I post.

Well couple of ??

First post stats of all birds you shot let's start there.

Pictures of the feet and beard as well as fan since you cleaned the bird could work too.

Can you post the video such as a Youtube link?
That will work too.
OR
Some Video cameras do allow you to take a 'Snap Shot' of one frame. I know mine does and then you have the jpeg picture file needed which can be posted.

Let me know I might be able to help.

And congrats to both onetohunt and BetterBirddogs!

JW

Ps - Hey it Bible-Man's birthday today! Happy 28th sonny!

Ok guys heres the scoop. I have some videos here and I hope the links work. I have been hunting my ass off but moreso taking a lot of video of others hunting. I have shot some pretty cool video I think. Here is the first video from open morning of the triple beard I shot with the bow. I'm videoing by myself so you have to forgive me a little. I had a group of birds come in and I was waiting for the last bird to make his way to me. He was the only bird in this group that was strutting or doing anything. I made a good choice. He ended up having three beards and inch and three eight spurs. I have the only pic of him that wasn't erased below. Man it pissed me off. He's in the freezer so I supposed I could get more pics of him if need be. Ok here's this hunt opening day in SE KS at about 0900.

Here is a the video of my double beard bird from last week. Sorry I missed the kill shot. These two birds were coming right towards me and then skirted off the left. I ranged them at 41 yards and shot the double beard. I didn't know he was a double beard at the time.

Here is the video after I shot him. I didn't take any pics of me and him because I was hunting by myself. I hope this will suffice to allow the bird to be scored.

Ok here are some hunts from last weekend with my buddy and his girlfriend around the Topeka area. Man we saw a bunch of birds. It was just one of those days. Here is the first shot of them morning. She was braggin about her shooting, in walks a bearded hen.............
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZlLIwmu7y8

This second hunt is about 55 minutes after the first miss on the hen. It was storming like hell when we got out of the truck that morning. The birds really came to life after the weather moved out. This video is a little lenghty but is awesome. She hammers this bird but my buddy has to finish him off. Check out what the fighting purr did to this situation. I have only had the fighting purr work one of two ways. It either scares the hell out of them and clears the field or it does what it did in this video. Shot number two on Saturday morning April 7th............ (I think my language might be questionable in this one sorry!)

This last hunt is awesome. We fooled with this bird for 2 hours before he manned up and came on in to get a piece of action. My buddy smoked him. I love it when they come in mad. I have never seen a bird walk sideways like this one does...........

Now for some scores. Here is the only surviving pic of my triple bearded bird. He's laying on his other two beards and you can't hardly see anything. If we can't use him that's fine. He's a cool bird and in the freezer.

Here are my scores from both birds. Surely we will be able to use one.

The triple beard

20lbs
right spur 1 1/8
left spur 1 2/8
beard 1 10 1/8
beard 2 3 5/8
beard 3 1 5/8

Total score 20+11.25+12.5+20.25+7.25+3.25=74.50.

The double beard

23 lbs
Right Spur 1 3/8
Left Spur 1 1/8
Beard 1 9 7/8
Beard 2 3 7/8

Score is 23+13.75+11.25+19.75+7.75=75.50

Both birds easterns. Sorry for the lengthy post guys!
