Shot this buck today in PA. Very tired but had a great day with family. My Nephew shot his first buck, 8 point and my Brother shot a nice 10 as well.

B&C Gross Score: 133 5/8, he is a main frame 10 with split brow tines. Going out for a doe tomorrow.

WIbuckchaser 11-27-2012 05:13 PM

Way to go guys! Looks like we took the lead. Go get that doe White tail. And yes White tail, I had an unbelievably season.

jermelott 11-28-2012 05:11 AM

Dang guys, yall are having some great success!! My success is actually getting to go hunting right now. With our new baby(number 3), and me building a house, and me and my wife working 50ish hours a week, there is not much time for anything else. But I will get in the woods!!
On another note: We have to have a captain now!! does anyone want to step up?

WIbuckchaser 11-28-2012 06:23 PM

I don't know how hard it is to be captain. I have never done it but I think I could handle it.

jermelott 11-29-2012 05:59 AM

captain

I know you could. I am team captain for our team in the bow hunting contest. Its not hard. You might have to vote on something thats a close call or the moderator might get you to poll us on a certain issue, other than that, its just to have a leader for each team.

Thanks for stepping up!!!!! please respond to moderators post that you are team 11 captain.

Thanks!

White-tail-deer 12-01-2012 05:15 PM

Shot a doe today. I will post in the main thread.

WIbuckchaser 12-01-2012 05:29 PM

Way to fill the freezer and put points on the board WTD. Looks like you had a good season too.

White-tail-deer 12-02-2012 08:42 AM

Thanks!!

Anybody else still hunting? We need to pad our lead!

jermelott 12-04-2012 10:57 AM

Good luck! We could use some more points.

nosfedgta 12-15-2012 05:51 PM

Guys we have had a hard, hard season in GA this Year. I wish I could have put some points up, but I dont think its going to happen. I went from seeing 20+ bucks a year to seeing only 6 or 7 this year and the biggerst being about 80inches lol. I got 2 more weeks so we will see what I can do.

jermelott 12-22-2012 02:05 PM

I finally got to go hunting this weekend and smoked a doe. Was in need of some meat. I did take a picture also. I'll post it on Monday. Good luck to those of you still hunting.

White-tail-deer 12-23-2012 02:26 AM

Sweet Jermelott! Congrats!

We might win this thing.

jermelott 12-24-2012 05:08 AM

Here she is! 110 pounds. ran about 20 yards.

jermelott 01-10-2013 08:31 AM

Man this is a close one!! two teams are with-in a doe of us. I passed on a decent 7 point this past weekend (probably 85"), had I know that was the only buck that I was going to see, I would have shot him. With building this house, i am not getting in the woods as much as normal. So I guess im not going to be able to be to picky this year. I am still in need of a little more venison! Still have a couple more hunts to make though.

jermelott 01-17-2013 12:10 PM

Well guys after leading just about the entire contest (if not the whole time), we have been caught. Pisses me off that I passed on that seven point last weekend! lol. I am going out on saturday and will make an all day hunt. I will most likely shoot whatever since its the last weekend for me. Is anyone else hunting?

jermelott 01-21-2013 06:12 AM

Bad News!!!!!!:((..... shot a really nice buck on saturday evening that would have pretty much sealed the deal for us a victory, but couldnt find it!!!!!!! trailed blood for about 70/80 yards then lost the trail. Did alot of walking around, but didnt find a deer. I was sick!! Didnt get to hunt much this year due to building a house, then finally get a chance at a big buck and didnt capitalize. Oh well, im pretty much done for the year. Will maybe go back in a day or so (if I get a chance) to look for him again. But it will just be to get the antlers (if he died). We gave them a good run this year and hopefully can keep the same team next year!

Congrats!!!! Where's the tag? :-)

jermelott 01-28-2013 11:13 AM

Thanks man! We dont have tags in the state of Mississippi. Just a very expensive out of state hunting licence. lol

peakrut 01-28-2013 11:39 AM

That's why I don't hunt Illinois it's around $483.

No, about the same size though. This was an 8 point that i have never seen before. He probably lived on the adjacent property and was just out cruising for does coming in late. The other was a seven point with longer tines (probably 2-1/2). This eight was (3-1/2) with no rack, big body but not much up top.

peakrut 03-19-2013 08:37 AM

I was just surfing and came acorss this article and did you hunt primitive hunting season in Mississippi? http://www.fieldandstream.com/blogs/...on-deer-season The pic you have doesn't look like a primitive weapon. No blaze orange also as required by Mississippi.http://www.mdwfp.com/law-enforcement...ules-regs.aspx

WOW! peakrut, are you freakin kidding me! Are you seriously going to look up the rules and regulations where I hunt and send them to me as if I dont already know them. You must want to win real bad! I shot this buck with a 45/70 just before dark. The next day I brought my daughter hunting (FYI she can use whatever weapon she wants in the state of Mississippi). After our morning hunt, me and my little girl went and recovered my deer from the night before (she was very excited). We loaded the deer and headed back to the camp with it. Thats where the picture was taken. The state of Mississippi doesnt make you wear your hunters orange when you are at your hunting camp. My daughter took a picture of me with my phone with my buck and the gun she was using that day. My 45/70 was back at the house. Never did I think someone would question was that the EXACT gun that was used the evening before. Out of all 70 or so deer killed, I didnt see anyone that asked "are you sure that was the gun used to shoot the deer". The bottom line. I hunted the deer, I shot the deer (with a legal gun), the next day i recovered the deer with my daughter (wearing hunters orange, Both of us) and I took a picture with the deer once I recovered it with the weapon that we had on us. Thanks for your concern though.

Topgun 3006 04-10-2013 04:46 AM

So what was the day/date and zone where you shot that buck that you have in your photo that scored 79 to win the contest?

Hill Zone. Recovered on the 27th. Thanks for your apology. but I am DONE answering questions and defending myself on this issue.

Topgun 3006 04-10-2013 10:23 AM

The question was not asked such that you should have felt you needed to be defensive! The season in Mississippi was open through 1/31 and the buck was entered on the 28th, so it was obviously taken during the open season. Everyone else told when they killed their entries as they posted them and with all the zones having the same closing date, asking what zone also didn't seem like such a big deal. Sorry I asked!

Sorry buddy!!! I have felt the need to be on the defensive about this deer for the last two days. Im sorry I read into your post the wrong way. its hard to read a post in the same context as it was written when your mind is thinking one way. Dont be sorry for asking, i just read it wrong. Thanks!!

Topgun 3006 04-10-2013 11:34 AM

Yea, now I can see where on the net it could be different than asking the question in person where you could have completely different vibes. How's the new addition to the family doing?

jermelott 04-10-2013 12:13 PM

She is doing great!! but we just found out yesterday that she has hip dysplasia and she has to start wearing a brace (maybe up to a year). We were very heart broken to hear this news. But its not life threatning and she wont even remember that this happened. We are just praying about it and leaving it up to the man upstairs. We are still so very blessed and have three beautiful kids that we are very thankful for!

Topgun 3006 04-10-2013 12:21 PM

How old is she in that picture? She's a real doll and the Docs will take care of that problem! Better to find that out now and take care of it while she's tiny!!!
