Guys, its Nov, 1 and we were supposed to have a captain picked and checked in by yesterday. We also need to come up with a name. Any suggestions? Season is 2 weeks to the day for me. Its comin fast! Lets get some name ideas going and would like to hear when your seasons start and how everything is going. Scouting reports? Trail cam pics?
I have a cam on the prop i'll be gun hunting and will be checking it today. I've bowhunted this farm a few times already and came up blank, but i know the deer are around. There's a big alfalfa feild directly across the road and it absolutely loaded with deer. I have seen sveral nice bucks there too. They should be breaking out of there and spreading out any time now.

CodyGuess offered first, so I second his offer/nomination as captain.

As far as a name, well, my way of hunting involves alot of naps in the woods, and waking up when the buck busts me. So my suggested name is the "BuckDozers", sort of a double meaning.

I really think we need a captain checked in. We have a couple missing members and should let them know so we can get some alternates. I p.m.ed Cody about getting checked in and told him if he didn't want it i'd do it. Sounds like he don't care either way So was thinking i'd give it another day or so and if he don't get checked in then i'll get checked in and do it. What does everyone think?

Ok, i'm gonna go ahead and check in as captain. Since Palehorse has offered up the only suggestion for a name (and i'm drawin a blank) Guess our team name will be "The Buckdozers! I like it! T minus 10 days and counting here. Got the day off tomorrow and will be out putting the finishing touches on my new deer blind. Can't wait till the 15th!

Checking in! Hunting NW Arkansas

One week from today opens NY's gun season .... got some good bucks to chase ... no dinkers for me ...it's go big or go home ... unless of course my freezer isn't filled by the last week ... then anything goes :D

Thursday is the big day!!! New rifle blind is complete and ready to go. Got a great elevated blind on a 60 acre farm and i can pretty much see the whole thing from this spot.I will be hunting Thurs-Sun, then back to work Mon.&Tues. Then off till the following Mon. Seen some Nice bucks in this spot last yr and took a descent 8 pt the day after thanksgiving, so hopefully it produces again this yr. Good luck guys!!!

Tonite i feel like a 6 yr old on christmas eve!!! Everything is ready to go, weather should be perfect, and at 5 a.m i start 4 days of nothin but huntin!!! Can't wait! Good luck guys!!!

No blood on the hands today but seen a couple good ones. If the one this morn would of held still for 30 more seconds i'd have one. Gonna hit it hard again in the a.m.

I shot a nine point in Arkansas on Sunday. I hope to score it next week, but it isn't a large rack. I still have one more buck tag and will be a lot more selective with it.

I wasn't gonna take a doe this early in the season but one made me an offer i couldn't refuse this mornin. 60 yards, on a trail i can drive the truck on, 4 tags in my pocket and no venison in the freezer! Pretty easy descision i thought!

Seen a bunch of does tonite but no horns, back at it in the a.m.

Seen only one deer this morn, but it was a buck. He walked in to 50 yrds and i dropped him. Not huge, just a 6, but a good start. Lots of season left and lots of time to hunt. I'll be after the big boy from here on out. I'll get some pics posted and a score after i figure out how to do it. Good luck guys!!

Here he is, i came up with a score of 53 1/8. Does that sound right? I used the b&c scoring calculater and to the best of my knowledge thats what it was. Never scored one befor and was a bit confused. Somebody tell me if it sounds right befor i post it please.

Got in the blind this morn and shortly after daybreak got a text from my wife on her way to work, my 5 yr old had just threw up all over the car! So i had to pack up and go get him. What a bummer! Looks like i may not make it back out till friday now. She don't get home in enough time to make it out in the evenings so looks like the next couple days of my vacation are shot. Maybe Thurs. morning but thats iffy with the whole fam comin over for dinner but we'll see. Good luck guys

My mom had surgery the third day of the season, so I have managed just 3 days in the field since opening day November 10th (but got two deer so I cannot complain). I still have 2 bonus tags in Kentucky, one which can be a buck, and I have not decided whether to try to hunt in Indiana.

Hope all is well with your mom Palehorse. Congrats again on your deer.

I got this next weekend to get out again with my gun. Passed up many 8 points and looking for one of my 15 pointers still. Passed up my ten point I see every time I'm out hunting or shining.

Got my buck from Veteran's Day posted. It ended up at 94, which is higher than I thought it would, but it is the first time I have scored one. I spent most of last week hunting but didn't get a shot on anything. Still have another buck tag and four doe tags left, so I have some opportunity to get some more points for Team 5, I think, before the end of gun season.

Congrats on getting a buck Grizzlyman. The rest of my hunting party all checked a buck (3 bucks), and I have yet to see an antlered deer while hunting.
