Hello from southeastern ky. This is my first time entering the competition & I am looking very forward to it.
My season comes in this weekend and I cannot wait for it!
Squirrels just aren't filling the void, in the freezer or in my heart.
Good luck to all, I can't wait to see the hunting results for this year.

they are some nice looking bucks, are they in PA?

plus what do you think of the AR program? here in my area in NY they are starting it this year.

razor6570 09-10-2012 04:20 PM

Well I don't want to be pushy but we need two things.
1. Team Captain
2. Team Name

We are still missing several people on the team.
Who would like to be team captain?

jkoch89 09-10-2012 05:09 PM

Team 6 Full Draw Junkies ???

I can be team captain if no one else wants to

razor6570 09-10-2012 05:21 PM

I like the name and if no one wants the job of captain you have my vote.

pjarrows 09-11-2012 03:22 AM

sounds good to me

foxfire66 09-11-2012 08:41 AM

Yes they are PA bucks and the antler restrictions are the best thing that has ever happened here! This is the 10th year for AL's now and i must say its unbelievable what 10 years of change can do. Heck it was amazing after 5 years.

Also i am cool with that name and whoever wants to be captian.

foxfire66 09-11-2012 08:45 AM

AR* i mean

razor6570 09-11-2012 09:08 AM

I agree that AR has made a big difference here in PA.
We have some very nice dder, they are not that common on the state ground in my area but private lands are holding some real nice bucks. It is still tough to see many P&Y in my area any where.

foxfire66 09-11-2012 09:47 AM

What county are you in? Im in Beaver county. Beaver and Allegheny county have some good p&y bucks. You just have to have some patients and do a little home work. I also hunt in the Allegheny national forest in forest county. That is harder hunting but when i was a kid it was hard to see anything bigger than a 4pt. Now i see some awesome deer there. People complain about doe killing and there being no deer left. Believe me when i say that's not true. Yeah we no longer have these huge herds of 70+ doe and very few 1.5 yr old bucks running around everywhere like back in the day but try explaining to an old timer up there who doesn't understand how UNHEALTHY AND UNBALANCED that was. These guys don't understand how big those woods are and you actually have to do some pre season scouting now and have to go deeper in the woods than just 50 yards behind camp. Last year we had a Buck around my place well into the 180's and he actually made it through the season. Only time i ever had him close enough for a shot was during bear season. Go figure lol.

razor6570 09-11-2012 11:35 AM

I am in Franklin county. 40 miles south of Harrisburg. You are on the western side. There has been some true giants that come from that area!
Let me tell you that we have no where near the quality deer that you have out there... Not saying that we do not have some quality deer but they are hard to come by. I have several very good deer on trail cam but nothing huge.

I put in a lot of time in scouting before and after season. I need to find new places but they are hard to come by. I lost ground 4 years ago that held several P&Y whitetails consistantly. I keep looking for quality ground to hunt but so far nothing.

Believe me harvesting does has helped the herd significantly. I am for reducing the herd and believe me i hear the same complaints from allot of people. Most of those guys are 1st day people and walk out and sit by a tree without putting any time in scouting. Not all are that way but more than enough are that way.

Good luck on that 180" buck! One year older and wiser!

I would say that you have it.

razor6570 09-26-2012 02:55 PM

Three days away from our opening day. Looking forward to getting out. I have a few doe tags that are burning holes in my pocket, if a doe comes later in the day she may have a bad day!
I will not be hunting much in early season but starting the last October I am off work for three solid weeks. Planning to be living trees those three weeks.
Good luck everyone
