Went out yesterday...saw a good 9 point at about 150 yards away...hopefully I'll get a chance at him later this year! Had a couple does come within range, but a clear shot never presented itself. Found a few rubs yesterday, as well. I am sure they were probably made by young deer, but still exciting to see!

I hunted the earn-a-buck portion of the Navy Base, and saw a mature 9 ptr yesterday afternoon, and a mature 8 ptr this morning - both fed under the same oak. I need a doe, lol.

Heading out first thing in the morning for our first hunt of the season. Looking forward to spending time in the stand, the weather should be near perfect for some early season action...

Cold front moved in last night. During the rain yesterday afternoon I did some scouting and found one heck of an acorn patch. Nice rub/scrape line running right through it. Decided to setup my last 21 foot ladder stand 30 yards or so off the rub/scrape line, if wind is right I will hit that stand this evening. Keep at it boys.

Hit the new stand location lastnight. slipped in at 3pm and at 3:45 I had two bucks cruise by at 60 yards. As soon as I saw them I knew they were nothing special, first was a 100 class 8 point. second buck was a good size fork buck, large rack large body but I could tell he was young.

Around 4:30 the wind did a complete 180, sat there for 10 minutes to see if it would switch back and it didnt. Got down and relocated to a better stand for the east wind. Saw 1 doe at 40 yards around 6pm, no shot.
