Nice buck Brent. I am going to try and get out tomm., been a week since I sat a stand.

Dave

SouthernMDArcherer 11-09-2012 01:18 PM

So............what do you do when you get home from work an hour before sunset during the week? You setup and shoot about 300 arrows threw your new Bear Method bow and get it setup to hunt)))). Got the Method setup and dialed in guys, figured maybe the new bow may change my luck and bring in the big boys. We shall see this weekend............................

Dave

Brent B 11-10-2012 01:55 AM

Now is definitely the time to be in the woods. In the past 2 days I've seen 8 bucks and 2 does lol. I missed a doe last night misjudged the distance. Headed to the woods in a few.

SouthernMDArcherer 11-10-2012 03:16 AM

Slight delay to my hunting weekend..............son has one last soccer practice this morning I need to attend then it is to the woods for me))

Dave

fshafly2 11-10-2012 09:46 AM

Shot a 10 ptr this morning - xx lunged, he went only 70 yds and I watched him fold. I'll score him and post it in the next day or so.

SouthernMDArcherer 11-10-2012 11:02 AM

Wow, very nice Fsh. I was not able to hunt this afternoon either, forgot they had a final get together for my sons soccer team this afternoon. Fsh.............push some of those monsters my way.

Dave

Brent B 11-11-2012 10:58 AM

Great buck fsh! Saw a huge ten pointer in ohio this morning. He snuck in behind me and got my wind. Hopefully i'll see him again sometime later this week. Right now it's warm and windy... supposed to rain tomorrow and then temps drop back into the upper twentys everynight the rest of the week. I've got 2 weeks til gun season to bag my buckeye buck.

fshafly2 11-11-2012 05:21 PM

Brent
I looked at your score sheet - you are entitled to 4 circumference measurements (even spikes get 4), you showed only two.

Check it out http://www.huntstats.com/scoring.html

I entered this doe and finally got my buck posted in the score thread with his score. Sorry it took so long. Been really busy.

BUCKMARK 11-12-2012 12:42 PM

Good shooting you guys, I got out on SAturday, but with the wind howling the deer weren't moving. Headed out on Thursday for a 4 day hunt, Might be the last chance with bow...

SouthernMDArcherer 11-12-2012 02:43 PM

Saw nothing tonight...............I am convinced this property does not hold any resident large bucks. Other than the chocolate rack buck I have not seen anything over a fork size. The farmer stop me tonight and told me I need to put some deer down, holding out for a big buck is not keeping his crops from being torn up((((. The need to put down a good size buck for the competition may have to take a back seat to the need for me to make sure the Farmer is happy.

I need to make sure I keep him happy and secure my hunting privileges for future years, this is the only private property I have to hunt and I do not want to mess with public hunting around here................if it is brown it is down.

Dave

Brent B 11-13-2012 03:37 PM

Hang in there Dave you'll cross paths with one eventually. Bucks are out chasing everyway in Ohio. Saw another buck tonight but he took 45 mins to cross the corn field and it was pitch black by the time he got to me. That makes 19 bucks i've seen this year. On the way back to the house a nice buck crossed the road in front of me with his nose to the ground.

On scoring my deer... do I make the last 2 circumference measurements after the last point?

fshafly2 11-13-2012 03:49 PM

Brent
Yes, H3 and H4 would be the same, made half-way btw the last point and the tip.

nice job guys.. way to get it done!

KY was a bust... pathetic... 21 hunters in camp... One 130 class buck shot... One 120 class... one 90 inch buck and a basket 6 point!
I saw one deer in 40+ hours... 3 point on second morning... ugh... wtf

got in at 3am this morning... checkin cams later on

Brent B 11-15-2012 10:08 AM

Shot what I thought was a doe yesterday morning... ended up being a button buck. Guess it was 2 fawns that walked past my stand... he was twice as big as the one behind him so I figured it was a doe lol. Made a perfect shot ran 50 yards and fell over. Also saw buck number 20 on the year. He came across the field and did a couple circles around my buck before winding me. Just a small one tho I'm sure i'll see a nice one soon. Headed out tonight.

Ok thanks. Hate you had a bad time

SouthernMDArcherer 11-16-2012 08:10 AM

Went out this morning, still nothing but small bucks. Afork buck came in off my left at first light then a spike buck came from same direction about 10 minutes later...................then a "herd" of turkey walked 5 feet in front of me. I counted 22 turkey.......that was cool to see.

Dave

fshafly2 11-16-2012 08:36 AM

There's no lack of turks around this fall Dave. A few weeks ago, the toms were gobbling in the morning like it was April, lol.

Too bad about the KY outfitter WMAH.

Western MA Hunter 11-16-2012 09:24 AM

been seeing alot of toms in NY... been coming by me everyday..
While in KY I had 5 toms come by me in ground blind. One had triple beard... what a beauty.

Well our gun season starts tomorrow. I finally managed to get something. Waited to the last week but boy has it been a tough season so far. well meat in the freezer and a few points for the team. 44 4/8 to be exact lol

SouthernMDArcherer 11-16-2012 02:10 PM

Way to go and I can appreciate the tough season comment. Been tough down my way, large buck sightings down to almost zero, been that way all season. Something going on in my woods, just havent figured it out.

Dave

SouthernMDArcherer 11-17-2012 05:29 AM

Saw one small fork buck at 7am. Came home at 9:30 to work on the "honey-do list". Will hit the woods again this afternoon.

Dave

SouthernMDArcherer 11-17-2012 01:48 PM

Sat from noon until dark, 4 deer total.................two button bucks a spike and a forker. If I see one more forker or spike I am gonna puke. 5th different stand I have set in and all five stands have nothing but young bucks.............come on big boys, show yourself.

SouthernMDArcherer 11-18-2012 12:21 PM

Went down this morning to the small farm around 10 am and relocated three of my stands. I am trying everything I know guys to get a buck on the ground. No bets on size, with the farmer getting in my case about putting deer down it may be a barely legal buck.

Dave

SouthernMDArcherer 11-19-2012 01:31 AM

Plan is work a half day today, hunt this afternoon and take vacation the rest of the week to hunt. Gun season starts this Thursday, I really do not want to be in the woods with the orange army so I am hopeful that I will tag a buck by Thursday morning. Wish me luck !!!!

fshafly2 11-19-2012 01:35 AM

I'm still roaming the woods, and following your stories guys. Keep posting your hunts.

SMA - the "pumpkins" (wife's terminology, lol) come out Saturday, not Thursday.

Gun season starts here monday in ohio. Saw a few bucks this weekend. Nothing close enough for a shot though. I've got about ten more hunts til gun season starts. I'm pretty confident one will get within range here soon.

SouthernMDArcherer 11-20-2012 12:28 AM

Yesterday afternoon I sat a new stand, saw 3 doe and a small 6 point. The old man is up and heading out soon. Goodluck Brent B in putting a deer down, sounds like we are in the same boat.

Dave

Western MA Hunter 11-20-2012 04:19 AM

gun season here in NY & CT... went a few times with bow last week and passed on some does. no bucks sighted.
Have been bringing my 8 year old daughter with hopes she can get her first deer with me this year (whatever comes in). Nothing has shown up while we've been out (2 sits). I passed on a couple does again last night... trying to save them for her!
My buddy took a nice mature 8 point here in MA yesterday afternoon though

SouthernMDArcherer 11-20-2012 09:22 AM

So I got in stand at 05:30, from 06:30 on work is calling me, finally at 08:15 I call work from my stand and of course it was something that could have waited until next Monday. Did not see a thing, at 08:45 another call from work and this time I tell them " if someone is not dead or bleeding to death, stop calling me". I think they got the point........and yes I can say that, I AM THE BOSS !!!!!

Was so frustrated I got down at 09:00 and came home for a late breakfest.

Dave

fshafly2 11-20-2012 09:52 AM

Good luck hunting guys - a doe will catapult us into first.

SouthernMDArcherer 11-20-2012 01:40 PM

Like the man said, 25 points puts us in first. I am up and getting ready to hit the woods, plan on being in stand by 05:30, goodluck to those still hunting.

Dave

Brent B 11-21-2012 01:46 AM

I can enter my button buck as a doe right? I still need to rescore my buck as well... I'll get it done this afternoon. Off to the woods this morning tho.

Western MA Hunter 11-21-2012 04:44 AM

Western MA Hunter 11-21-2012 04:52 AM
