I guess I should have looked for her that evening. Went out the next morning and found her about 40 yards from the shot. Unfortunately, the coyotes found her first! When headed back to camp, I saw a really nice boy that would go about 140. Had a really good look with the headlights. G2's would be about 14". Saw him again the next morning about 300 yards away as I was breaking camp. I plan on going back there Friday...

Well I am back from my shotgun trip to S. IL and I have to say it was a pretty good one. Snapper was right about my 20 gauge rifle. I shot a Doe on Friday night at 150 yards in a cut bean field. Then on Saturday morning I took an 8 pointer at 200 yards in this standing bean field I was sitting next to. He went 20 yards and crashed. I was so suprised that if I were sitting in a tree I would have had to hold onto it so I wouldn't fall out. LOL!!!

Congrats on the deer.

I will be headed out on Thanksgiving for a few days of hunting. I should be able to get a shot at a doe.

Thumbs up

Henson59
Congrats on the buck, well I might have good news for my self. I've been trying every day to draw my bow back. The pain is just a token of my badd ass attitude in never say never. Well after trying my main bow and not being abel to do it, I tried the ole back up, she came back 4 succesful times in a row. Wow is all I could say and when the wife walked in the door she got the blunt of bad news as she would say! I'm hunting this weekend and for 5 days next weekend! So I guess the Christmas decorations will have to wait. I'm still treating this as I can't draw it back because doing it in the warmth of the indoors is a totaly different environment than being out in -25 and trying it! Wish me luck guys, I'll give it my best to nock one down. It's the weekend of December 1,2,3 & 4th that has me tickeled pink. I always have my best luck then with the bigger bucks. I just hope none of the shot gunners have nocked down DDTx4.

Thumbs up Morning Sit

Hey Hey
Just got in,what a great morning, quiet sit but inspiring. Had a soft snow coming down and at 9:30 I rattled and I heard that dreadful sound of steps coming in behind me. I turned so slowley and at 15 yards was a young 5x5 about a 120 maybe! So glad it wasn't a good one. Then I just sat back and enjoyed my time on stand till 11:30 and rattled once more and in came a little 2x2. Deer were up moviing as I heard them on the other property which is a stones throw away. Just found out were having a Bday supper tomorrow for my Son. So I'll be just out for the morning again. Was looking forward to an all day sit. Won't be out till next weekend after tomorrow. Good luck team!
Rocky

Well I never got on a doe on this trip. We ended up coming back a day early. No need to worry I will get a doe before the season here is up but I had other priorities on this trip. Our middle daughter was in from college and I wanted to get her on a deer. I thought she was going to shoot a doe but she had other things on her mind.......
