I shot my first deer of the season last night.A nice mature doe.I could not believe how lean she was.No fat build up for the winter.

It was a slow weekend for me, way too warm. It will be cooling down next weekend and I will be hitting it hard again. Anyone having any luck?

Cold front moving in, spitting rain,.....havent seen any of the big boys for 3 weeks and some i havent seen at all. Corn and 1st planting of beans are almost all cut. wheat is 99% drilled and green in the fields. double crop beans not quite ready. Deer are moving with the food, scrapes and rubs starting to show up. I killed a Doe this am. Good Luck Team!

Well I am off for the next two to three days at a spot up near LaCross WI. It's a good spot for does but very few shooter bucks because of the extreme pressure.
I'll keep ya posted over the weekend though. The land owner said that he hasn't been out in the woods much at all this year and the times that he has been out cutting timber he has seen a number of scrapes and rubs. I have yet to take a buck off of this property but there a first time for everything.

I've been hunting hard with poor results this year.I blew a chance on a 160+ when I could not find a clean shooting lane.I went ahead and shot this buck. He's not a monster but with gun season opening on Monday he was hard to pass up.I'll put a tape to him tomorrow.

Still trying to find big enough to shoot. EHD disease hit us hard and killed about 75% of the deer in our area so it's not looking good. Headed to Canada hunting this week.

Unhappy Team 2

I'm really bummed, Shot a real nice buck 1 week ago. Guessing around 135 to 140 10 point. Good shot 3 rib quartering away. Ran into a large corn field and lost blood in the dark. Went back at day light and jump him ( not dead ) blood all over, backed out went back 4 hours later and tracked another 60 yards and lost blood trail again. I searched for 2 days in standing corn and found nothing. Hopefully farmer will find him, when he takes corn off. I can't believe he lived that long where he was hit.

Sorry gang nothing for me this year. Could have shot some 130-140s bucks but now days its 160+ so that got the green light. I sure hope this winter stays mild the deer really need it after that disease all but wiped them out...
