Tony from Wisconsin checking in, lets roll!
Hey guys, my name is Ryan, from Missouri near St Louis . I am 26 married, no kids. I work for myself as a property investor. Not too big on gun hunting but I have been bow crazy for the last 10 years or so. Oh I'm not actually a newbie as it may seem with my 3 posts (I changed my name-went by NCBloodtrailer for the last 3 years.).
When's everyone's season start? It's sept 15 here |
Ours starts on the Sept. 3rd. The temps are going to be 95 for a high. Im working anyway but will go out as soon as I can.
I just changed my drop away rest today and put on a fixed again. I hate to tinker too much this close to season but I was having tuning issues and believed it was the rest. After I worked on it for about an hour, I have it shooting pretty good and need just a little more work to have it where I want it. Made it a little quieter also. I still shoot a Mathews Q2 thats 9 years old but it still shoots great so why change. I did put on a new Torqueless Grip this year and also went from Muzzy heads to Magnus Buzz Cuts. They are a great looking head and look like they are going to tune real nice. Still like Muzzys but the Magnus has a warranty for life and I can resharpen them as I need. |
Just sent out PM to the ones that still need to check in. Hope to get everyone checked in soon so we can get everyone fired up about season and get the stories and smack started.
Here and ready to go. I've been Deer Hunting since I was 12 and took up bow hunting about 4 years ago. I live in Downtown Chicago but plan on spending a lot of time at a good buddies property in Central Illinois and also hunt urban spots around Chicago. I'm ready for October to roll around already!
trueagkid checking in from Texas. Season opens Oct. 1 and I am counting down the days. I've seen a few nice bucks on cam, but I cannot wait for the rut. It's gonna be a good year despite the drought I think.
Bow season starts sept. 24 here in ohio...cant wait..gotta a few nice bucks on my trail cams....anybody have any trail cam pics?
How about team name Noc Em Dead?
Season starts Oct. 1st here in oklahoma. But with temps in the hundreds, its kind of misserable to even think of going outside. We get to hunt until Jan 15th so I am not too worried about getting in the woods. I have been bowhunting for the past 7-8 years now. I am a school teacher and also coach basketball, baseball, and cross country. And by the way team name sounds good.
My buddy has gotten a few Monsters on his trail cams. I'd say he's gottne picks of 7 over 130 and one that I am guessing is in the 150 to 160s. I also have one in my urban spot that I think would go 140 I'd say. Its going to be tough to hold back on some of these mid range bucks to hold out for a big one!
noc em dead sounds good peakrut
Hey I work up north of you in Waukegan and I live just over the border in Wisconsin from Antioch, IL.

Peakrut, I have a spot to hunt in Southern Lake County by where I grew up. I'm up near Waukegan a decent amount, especially Bass Pro. There are a lot of areas around there I wish I could hunt. I have seen some monster bucks in some of those fields up there. You hunt in Northern Lake/Racine/Kenosha at all?
Oh ya, and Nock em Dead sounds good to me too. |
Here are a couple from my urban spot.
Nothing much on this guy, a little 9 point. He was a small non typical 8 last year. Heres a nice 10. I'm pretty sure that I shot this guy last year. I looked for him for days and never found him. Until I saw this photo I thought he didn't make it. It was a relief to see he did. Sorry for the size, its a night photo so I need to keep it big This is one that my buddy sent me where I'll be hunting a lot this year down south. Lots of pics of him and some buddies around his size. I dream of seeing this guy come October! |

Here is my target for this year..got a few pics during the day too..sorry the quality sucks
I currently hunt Kenosha county. Me and my Father use to rent from Temple farms that owns much of the land you speak of. I had a 5 day hunt setup back in the late 80's but I pissed my dad off and that fell through. I am always driving just north of BP and on my facebook page i have a pic of a real nice monster.
