I am so ready to get back to wisconsin. the stand i'll be hunting is the best setup i've ever hunted. i've only hunted it about 7-8 times (just found it mid oct last year) but i've shot an 8 pt archery and a 9 pt w/ rifle, passed on another 8pt (my buddy shot him later that day), had another 8-10 pt that i couldn't get a shot at pass by and passed on 5-6 other smaller bucks and then of course blew my chance at the biggest of them all on Sunday night. the kicker is that it's public land. sssshhhh!!!
super excited to get back to that tree!! we've moved our trip up, leaving friday afternoon. so, i'll be hunting friday night - sunday. hopefully my buddy or me will knock something down this weekend.
good luck guys!
by the way, congrats on the does brent and fshafly.

Had a fork literally within an inch of his life on Sunday. He stepped behind a tree and took 1 step out, thought he was clear and ended up putting the arrow in that tree. 1 more inch to the right and he would be on the ground. Planning on going tomorrow.

Well been raining here or the past two days now and there's a 70 percent chance tomorrow. Hopefully some bucks will be out freshening up some scrapes this weekend. Next weekend should be pretty good I'm headed home on the 28th. If it stays dry I think they'll be shellin corn by the end of next week!!!

I had a buck with v. nice character in chip-shot range tonight but gave him a pass. He had double beams, but the extra right beam was broken off at the base. I'll be thinking of him the rest of the season - hopefully the deer gods will remember me in their graces...

Back from 3 days in Wisconsin. Passed on 3 1.5 year olds and saw lots of does (killed 2) but didn't see a buck worth shooting. My buddy had a very nice 8 at 5 yards but couldn't get a clean shot.
I'm up to 4 does now. Probably done shooting them
I have the annual camp Ripley hunt this coming weekend. Some real bruisers in there. Hopefully i'll cross paths with one.
