I shot this sika deer during our early muzzleloader season. They are a small Asian deer that is closly related to elk. They escaped and became naturalized in a few counties decades ago. This is a tipical adult female, about 50 pounds dressed out. The stags are a little larger and darker with a mane.Team 13 check in thread "Natural Bone Killers"-1020110739-280x210-.jpg

Great buck Koch the Machine. I'm heading out tomorrow for NW Wisconsin for a six day hunt of the pre Rut. I'd love to see a buck of that size just to see if I could keep from shaking myself out of the stand.

I'm taking 6 boy scouts archery hunting so hopefully we bag one again this year and they push the big ones my way as they get impatient and start wandering the woods. It's always a great trip sharing my land with new hunters and sharing in their excitement when one of them connects.

Well back to packing and dreaming....

Well I finally got my buck scored last night. He had 14 scorable points. It ended up green scoring 176 1/8 and had a net score of 168 1/4. My best buck to date. I still got one buck tag left, hes going to be hard to top but im not complaining. Sweetest thing about this deer, is I have one side of his rack from last year and I got most of the hunt on video

Just pulled up the weather.... 15mph winds out of the South with gusts up to 24mph... Well I ain't gonna shoot anything on the couch.. gonna head to my sweetspot stand.. It is a stand at the bottom of a North facing hill... Should be good travel route for the deer this afternoon..

We will see!!!

Awesome Buck jkock89! You may never top that one. That's a once in a lifetime buck.

I got back from Ohio last night. Still not seeing anything older than 2-1/2. We are headed back this Friday thru Monday. If we don't connect we will go back the following weekend. I know they are there.
I checked my trail cam pics here at home and have a pretty cool looking 8 point coming in at night. I'll post pics later.
