Went out scouting yesterday... First property is where I always see tons of birds, except for yesterday...nada 4 hrs of walking and checking field no birds no gobbling. Drove to small 20 acre parcel get out of truck and GOBBLE, GOBBLE.... they are just over a crest and so close I can hear them walking in the leaves. Prolly 20 or so turkeys that I saw, couple of jakes, 2 mature toms there were others that I didnt see but I heard gobbling. Had the birds within 30 yards of me while standing next to my truck. Got the blood pumping!

This is only my third year turkey hunting. 1st year got a Jake the only time I went out, 2nd year got two nice toms and last year passed up a few on opening day and missed a couple during the season...Hopefully this yeart is better.

Here is one from '08

Season is only 12 days away here. Will be hunting 3 weeks with my bow, then 3 weeks with a shotgun. This warm weather is helping the birds get going. Good luck everyone.

Went out today, was fogged in so the birds were weird. But in the end, my mom shot a decent bird, and i missed on a good one.

Our season here in Ohio starts on the 19th. I was talking to the landowner who I will be hunting on and he told me everyday there is a large group of about 30 turkeys that walk behind his house. He said there are 5 really nice Toms in the group. Sounds like easy pickings, but it is always easier said than done.
