I finally talked my good buddy into letting me hunt with him on one of his farms this spring. If you remember last year, he's the guy who shot at the turkey 5 times before he killed it on video.

Well he has another farm, that he used to keep to himself until now. Hes taken a 21lb and a 24lb bird from it. Also, his brother took a 17lb gobbler there from it last fall, and missed 4, yes thats right, 4 different shots at gobblers last spring. We always referred to this place as the ZOO. Its about 250 acres, 10 of it is mature pines where the birds roost. The sign here is beyond belief, and we stuck a Moultrie i40 and a Cuddeback Capture on it just to see how many birds are using the pines. Ill update you gys with pics in a week or two.

Looking forward to hearing about the bird count, Siman, sounds like a great spot to hunt

A neighbor of mine has about 1500 acres of prime turkey land, and since the junior season opened a week early, he gave permission for my 11 year old boy and I to hunt his property this weekend.

My boy got to see several birds gobble and strut just out of range, and took his first shot at a gobbler, although due to poor coaching on my part, it was a little too far away for his 20 gauge. It was pretty cool to see him get excited when it was "going down". We'll be after them in the evening this week

Best of Luck,
Jeff

Default No birds yet.

I went hunting last weekend and this weekend. I am hunting public land in Florida. Heard plenty of gobblers on the roost but the hens took them the other way. They just do not want anything to do with me, probably my calling. I have one more hunt on this property with my son on Friday, hopefully I can get one in range. Good luck and God Bless everyone else. John

Nice pics siman08/OH. Love that one in the snow.
Good luck bornagain64.
I have been seeing a nice group of about 25 with 4 or 5 nice toms for about a week now. They are at the back section of fields a little too far for the camera I have. I sure hope they keep the same routine for about four more weeks when I slip in there in the morning of opening day.

Nice pics Siman. I am going to the same spot this weekend, at least one day. I have heard lots of gobbling, but hard for me to get close. When I move to where I heard them the morning before they are 200 or 300 yards away. It is hard for me to judge how far away they are. I will not set up until I know I am within a 100 yards of him, just do not want to get busted. Good luck to all. Happy Easter.
