The spot I hunt I have an area on it that I set up a feeder and a cam to see what is there. The turkeys don't usually start to show up till around the end of march. They winter a couple farms over. So hopefully in the next couple of weeks I will start to get some pics.

OK, I have to share this with you guys
I have lived on the same 15 acres for 18 years now, never once did I see a turkey on my place.
Part of the reason is, it's kinda like a rectangular parcel, and the back long side is bordered by a year round creek that follows a highway, and the front is not far from a county road.
Also, the property was burned in a large fire right before we bought it, so there is a bit of a shortage of ideal roost trees, most of them are right close to my house and my workshop
I got a call from my wife at work, and she told me a "parade" of nine turkeys walked right in front of her car when she was sitting in it, in our driveway.
She told me their heads were a "really bright red", so I knew there must have been some gobblers in the flock.
Well, she came into town (30 miles), and picked up my son from school, and we all had a quick dinner. Then, my son and I jammed home as quick as we could, so I could maybe see the birds, or get some video.
Unfortunately, when I drove up to the house at the top of the driveway, there they were! They all busted and flew when they saw my car, and I watched them sail down the hill and across the creek, on the nearest neighbors place
I got my mouth call, and started cutting and yelping off my back deck, and I had 4 different gobblers hitting me back. My son and I sat back and listened to them gobble until they finally went to roost
Only 9 days left until opening morning, and now I am SERIOUSLY fired up! I am taking today's experience as a sign of good things to come

i've seen a bunch of strutting birds on a few different farms i hunt..i have alot of land that i still need to check out that i just got permission on but im gonna wait until next weekend when i can kinda get an idea where the birds will be..ive had the calls out everyday this week..gotta practice up so i can do my part for the final roost

ok so we've came to the conclusion siman for prez and the final roost for name so he'll need to check in on the captain thread ..on another note heard a gobble this morning while fishing..now ive REALLY got the fever hows it looking for the rest of you guys..any gobblin or struttin goin on around you all

Yeah, I don't scout much in advance. I've been hunting a family farm for 20+ years and know the turkey patterns pretty well. I still get skunked sometimes but that's all part of the experience. My father did ride behind my house this past week and saw a group of toms so the coyote I heard this winter didn't get all of them.
