Maybe go to another bird for awhile and then come back and bag this one? Anyone else seeing anything? I'm waiting to go again when my kids can go with me which should be next weekend.

Hey guys,

Hows everyone fairing. I got skunked in Georgia but managed to get a nice Osceola on public land in Florida yesterday mourning. 15 pounds, 11" beard and 1 1/8" spurs. I'll post up some pics when I get back home.

Congrats Timrhuntr. Osceola are tough birds to hunt.
Your score is 15 + 11.25 + 11.25 + 22 = 59.5

Hey Talondale,

Thanks for posting that score but there is a reason I didn't post the score myself. Those are rough stats. The guy at the check station that measured it told me that he thought the spurs were 1 3/16" but since he didn't have 1/16ths but only 1/8ths on his ruler he couldn't round it up only down to 1/8th. Even though you could see they were past the 1/8th mark. I kept the bird alltogether and I am going to re-measure it myself with my stuff when I get home. He also said if I had shot that same bird at the start of the season it would have been 3-4 pounds heavier prior to breeding for the last few weeks and not eating much. Oh well can't complain on that it is still a better bird than I ever expected to get hunting on public land by myself in Florida.

I downloaded this one pic to show the spurs.

I got skunked in SW OK. I've killed good birds there 8 out the last 9 years. There were 10-12 good toms with 100+ hens about 400-500 yds away from us down on the river. I may go back in a couple of weeks when they're split up.

Got another one this past Wed. Wasn't as good as the first one but satisfied. 17.5 lbs., beard-9 1/4 in., spurs-5/8 in. both. JW! has the pics. Looks like Team 11 is rolling.

I thought the gobbling was over for us but I had 8 different birds in a circle around me. The first two came in but not close enough, could see them struting when another came walking down an old logging road and ran them off. I had another one hang up about 200 yds from me and was mainly working him. The bird I got was out in front of me (I couldn't see him), but knew he was coming. I shot him at 64 steps when I thought he was turning to leave. Longest shot I've ever made with this gun.

Haven't been able to go back for 2 days, hope to get after them again tomorrow.

Sorry I've be off for a bit. Been out hunting. Nothing down yet but ive seen a ton of them. Thursday morning I had one of the best hunts of my life. I saw 7-9 gobblers and 3 jakes in a matter of an hour and a half. I just wasn't able to close the deal. They were gobbling really good all morning too. Heading out again sunday so wish me luck.

Timbrhuntr, just let me know what score to go with on your osceola and I'll get it posted.

Dog, gonna get this bird posted for you too.
I love turkey hunting!! Anybody else?

Went with the kids this past weekend and saw 4 hens and 2 does but neither saw or heard a single tom. Will try again this weekend. May try to get in a hunt before work during the week. Depends on the weather.
