Don't worry IBHUN10, now that we know the real story I'm giving you a lot of credit! We got people on our team that can call in deaf turkeys!!!! Now that's skillz! LOL!! We will catch up in the standings!

Arrowmaster 04-23-2011 10:49 AM

Congrats IBHUN10 awesome bird :)

IBHUN10 04-23-2011 11:01 AM

Good one EFH!! Those turkeys must be able to read sign language...LMAO.:lolabove:

IBHUN10 04-23-2011 11:55 AM

Thanks Arrowmaster..Good Luck to the members that are out hunting now. We need to get some big turkeys being entered on our team to put us on top.

Matchbook454 04-23-2011 05:09 PM

Well, I finally scored this morning in NW, IL. I shot this tom at 6:55. 22 lbs. 1 oz, 11.5" beard and both spurs were 1.125". I believe he will score 67.5625. Although he's still not aa monster he's my highest scoring bird yet.

Your score is 22.0625 + 11.25 + 11.25 + 23 = 67.5625

IBHUN10 04-23-2011 05:37 PM

:happy0001:Good job Matchbook454, thats a nice bird!!!

EFH 04-23-2011 06:35 PM

Matchbook, that's a good bird man!! I don't know what you call a monster, but a high 60's or low 70's is a heck of a bird! You got me fired up again, think I'm going to try my luck before church in the morning! :D
Congrats once again on that bird, he's a dandy!!! Did you hear any more? When ya going back?

Arrowmaster 04-23-2011 07:10 PM

Congrats Matchbook awesome bird :)

Arrowmaster 04-23-2011 07:12 PM

Headed back to Missouri tomorrow. I'll be back to hunt Indianas opener on Wednesday. EFH please take care of scoring while IM gone. :)

Matchbook454 04-23-2011 07:13 PM

I heard a couple gobble early to the west of me then saw a bird east of me cross the field N to S. With the fog I couldn't tell if it was a tom or hen but I suspect a hen going to her nest (looked to be on a mission). It was a cool sight to see her (or him) cross a hilltop in the fog. Next I had a lone tom cross the same area S to N. Never gobbled or strutted but stopped to stair at my decoys for a few minutes then went into the woods. About 10 min. later a hen came out 70 yards away and I got her to about 60 yards and kept her around for a bit. I thought I heard a tom gobble in the woods behind her but I have hearing problems and then had 2 toms come from accross the field and gobble. When they gobbled and I saw them I could tell it was coming from their direction so I think there might have been a mystery bird still in the woods. Anyway, the strutter went to the hen and his buddy came towards my decoys. He looked a little torn between his buddy and the live hen and seeing how bad my luck was last week I gave it to him. My TSS 98's did their job at a solid 60 yards (on my rangefinder). God bless that stuff! I'm done here in IL for this year. Sucks having to budget hunts and time! Next year I will be guiding for the outfitter where I hunt so I will be out there a bit more. I don't mind not pulling the trigger either - that only means the hunt is over (unless you miss!) I do have a tag for WI and will be up there 5/4-5/6 to hunt. Hopefully I can get one more bird for the season. This bird flopped a bit, lost a bunch of feathers, and had a broken wing. I'd like to get a nice bird (doesn't have to be a big one either) but a good looking bird for me to mount.

Ok, will do!

blackheel 04-24-2011 05:58 AM

Congrats! Doesn't matter if the bird was deaf, dumb, and blind, he's yours!

IBHUN10 04-24-2011 06:13 AM

Go get'em Arrowmaster!! Hopefully you will be posting a good bird soon.

DowningAir 04-25-2011 05:42 AM

Hey guys, sorry I haven't been around too much. I'm in the process of moving/wedding planning/work/finishing school so its been pretty busy around the house. I was able to get out this weekend for some hunting though.

Friday morning was fun. Had birds in the field all morning, all-be-it on the other side of the field. Two toms herding around a group of 6 hens all morning, then another tom with a group of three more hens in another direction. Neither group was very interested in my setup. Heard a lot of gobbles Saturday morning and saw two toms, without hens this time, in the field. Did a little calling but to no avail. Sunday morning had two hens come into me but other then that and a few gobbles here and there it was fairly slow.

Won't be able to get back out until this weekend due to school and work. Might make a trip over to a buddies farm and give it a try over there. Hoping to help out on the scoreboard in anyway I can. Good luck to you all out there. Be safe and have fun!

Turkey Goddess 04-25-2011 07:12 AM

Hey guys!!! :) I'm posting this for Arrowmaster - he's in Missouri and killed one at 7:45 a.m. today! (Monday 4/25/11) YAY!!!!

Species: Eastern
Weight: 22lbs 8oz
Beard: 10 7/8"
Spurs: 0.5"

Your score is 22.5 + 5 + 5 + 21.75 = 54.25

CONGRATULATIONS KENNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :)

Kim :)

IBHUN10 04-25-2011 10:48 AM

EFH 04-25-2011 03:06 PM

DowningAir, sounds like you got a good spot!! Can't wait to see what you get this weekend.

Thanks TG!

Arrow, way to go man! Know you were ready for that after having to post scores for us! Haha!!

Western MA Hunter 04-26-2011 05:00 AM

Nice job Matchbook & Arrow... both some great birds!
I still haven't broken the 21 & 1/2 lb mark up here in New England.

Well... no good news here...
Youth hunt was ok... terrible weather... woke up to about an inch of wet snow... had 4 going on roost... hit the ground and shut up... tried to wait them out but no luck... then the wet snow turned to pouring rain the rest of the day... we tried a bunch of different spots and got a few located, but they didn't want to play...
We had 12 kids... only 3 scored... 2 jakes & 1 tom. All 3 kids first birds though... very cool.
Our season opened yesterday... very similar... wet.. had a few on the roost gobbling... then they must have henned up... tried a few other spots with no luck...
couldn't get out today, but hope to tomorrow AM & Thurs AM.

IBHUN10 04-26-2011 05:02 AM

Hope you can connect with a big bird then and Good luck WesternMA!!

EFH 04-26-2011 02:46 PM

Western MA, wish I could go with you just to hear a gobble! Man that weather must be tuff to hunt in but sounds like you got several birds around. I'll be looking for the big boy you post up in the next day or two!!!

IBHUN10 04-26-2011 03:04 PM

:)Well it looks like Team 10 accomplished their mission to take over the B@LLSH%&^N category and take the lead in team posts!!! Hahahahahaha..My hats off to them for their hard work!!:rock:

IBHUN10 04-26-2011 03:07 PM

:wave:EFH are you still hunting also?

EFH 04-26-2011 04:21 PM

Yes, I'm still gettin after it! Our last day of season is Sat., and I'm gonna give it a last go. Not to confident though, haven't heard a gobble in a couple weeks. Maybe SS will connect with the bird on his place too!

Arrowmaster 04-26-2011 06:16 PM

Thanks guys. I'll get pics up of my bird. Indiana opens tomorrow. I'll be out in the morning. Everyone be safe :)

Western MA Hunter 04-27-2011 04:44 AM

no luck again this am... didn't even hear a gobble... very strange foggy morning... still 3.5 weeks left... not too worried yet... they'll show up.

IBHUN10 04-27-2011 04:54 AM

Good Luck EFH, Arrowmaster, WesternMA, hopefully Arrow and Western connect with some good scoring birds.

IBHUN10 04-27-2011 05:46 AM

Just curious if anybody has heard anything on how dandbuck or blackheel season is going whether they are hunting or not. Any luck yet SoutherStrut? I think I remember back a few post ago DowningAir said he would be hunting in May so hopefully some of the guys have some luck and get the turkey pictures rolling in!!:D

Kist 04-27-2011 04:23 PM

Hi Guys,

I'm Tschaef's girlfriend, and he wanted me to let you guys know that we haven't gone up hunting yet, he's been away with work, and won't get back until early May.

We will still have lots of hunting time when he gets back, though.

Thanks!

Kipa

Western MA Hunter 04-28-2011 05:59 AM

went out this am... had a bird on the roost that normally pitches into field I was set up in... of course he went the other way across the river into posted property and never made another peep.
Saw another off the side of the road strutting... parked up ahead and went in on him.... never heard him either...
Oh well... we'll see what the weekend brings.

EFH 04-30-2011 05:16 AM

Hey team, just checking in. I didn't get to go out again, haven't had power since 5am on the 27th! I work for the Tuscaloosa water works and have put in 52 hours since wed stopping leaks and helping people. They wouldn't let us come in today, made us take a day to rest! I'll check back later, good luck to you guys and be safe! Please send some prayers to the families here. Cant begin to describe how bad this is!

IBHUN10 04-30-2011 07:40 AM

:sad0064:I hear ya EFH, thats terrible what the people there are going threw with all these storms lately, thoughts and prayers are for those people. Keep doing your best to help all you can!! My brother works for the power company here and he puts in some long hour days also when storms do the "damage" here in our area. I guess luckily, we don't get the seriously "damaging storms" often here in our area. Once again our prayers are out for the people in need!!

IBHUN10 04-30-2011 07:42 AM

:happy0001:Nice bird Arrow!! Congrats.

blackheel 05-01-2011 04:53 AM

This has been my toughest season in NC to date. I hunted the last 3 days on a public drawing hunt. I hunted from black am until 11 am when heavy winds, rain, tornado threats ran me out of the woods on Thurs. Got back after them around 5:30-6 pm after the squalls had passed, and nothing. Hunted from black am until 6 pm and never was in the game on Friday. Yesteday from black am until noon. Highlight was around 11 I called 2 hens into my wife's lap which she enjoyed. Heard very little, saw no toms. I have one more week in NC and then a few days in NJ the following week. I'm putting in the time with nothing to show for the team.....

SouthernStrut56 05-01-2011 05:52 AM

Kenny! There ya go bud, nice bird! Did you call him in with the raspy blue one? Good work man!

This crappy season is finally over for me. I didn't get to hunt this weekend with all the clean up and everything going on up here in north alabama. I got a new job in West pt, GA, and we're moving this coming weekend. I'd like to try and hit the Georgia turkey woods before their season goes on out the 15th, but I see myself being pretty busy with other stuff for the next two or three weeks. Good luck to the rest of the team, and EFH I hope things are getting better down your way, and be careful in that mess.
