Here in WV we had a good cold snap. Actually had snow on the ground this morning but it melted off. Its supposed to warm up this week though but I'll be leaving on Thursday for warmer weather and birds in season. :-)

I leave Thursday afternoon and will be hunting Friday morning. Got the z7x dialed in, and the new bone collector blind ready. Going to pull the cards here at home on Thursday so I will hopefully have pics to share before I leave.

Got number 2 this afternoon. I saw some hens down a road in our lease and set up just in case a Gobbler was with them, and he was following them. Called very little. I'll get stats later. Just a 2 year old.

Default opening day big jake

Killed a nice jake this morning, set up in a bay, had the bird come out in front of me, he hung up and then hens started clucking and purring behind me. The jake came in on a string.

Default #1 in the books

Got #1 today. Probably the finest day of turkey hunting I have ever witnessed. Heard 5, maybe 6 first thing, all of which moved within 100 yards of us. My brother missed one hot bird and without moving over 50 yards we called in three more. One of them busted us. The other two walked the ridge in front of us and ganged up on another gobbler 100 yards down the bottom.

Another hunter bumped them so we left out. Near the truck we called up a bird to a greenfield, only to have me miss.

We went to another spot where 5 birds were flat telling it. I shot on of the first pair at 60 steps and my brother got one 30 minutes later at about 20 steps.

15lbs 4oz +15/16 spurs + 9.5" beard.
