Thanks for starting the thread Jim.

This is Todd checking in - I'll be hunting in Calloway Co in Missouri.

bigtim6656 09-06-2010 01:32 PM

I am here, Will be hunting sullivan and greene counties in indiana. i have a bad knee and the local state forest told me I qualified for a key to the access gates which will allow me to get into the deep parts away from the roads some of which take a 2 mile drive if you have a key or a walk to get to. So I think this is my year. I will be using my shotgun if need be but mainly my TC triumph with my omega bdc scope.

Ouch, that sucks! Didn't realize you didn't get separate tags for each season in KY.

Manson 09-29-2010 07:23 AM

Hey guys, checkin' in... I'll be hunting in Jackson County, Wisconsin. Have had some decent success the past few years so I hope that continues.

Steve

Well Allrighty then! Game on!
Gun season doesn't start for me until 11/20...and I have 3 tags I can fill then!

DDMPrecision 11-08-2010 05:58 AM

Just a couple thoughts as I have been refreshing my memory on the rules and whatnot for this contest...
Who's our team captain?

wallhangr 11-08-2010 09:37 AM

No one has jumped in and volunteered yet.....

Rifle season here opens Sat am. I'm heading up Thurs night to bowhunt one last day on Friday before the woods fill up, then it's ON!

jrbsr 11-12-2010 07:39 AM

I need for you to pick a team captain.

Manson 11-12-2010 12:58 PM

A week from tomorrow and Wisco is open! Can't wait! Still trying to stick a buck with bow, have 3 or 4 real nice ones on camera.

Anyone willing to volunteer?

We saw absolutely nothing today. Got interupted by a neighbor farmer after being out about 2 hours. I looked towards my truck and I thought I saw someone parked behind it so I got out the binos and sure enough there was someone parked there. I had left my keys in my truck so I had to walk all the way back to it and lock it up. He saw that we were walking back to the truck and he decided to block the drive so I wouldn't be able to leave. I have been hunting out in this area over 20 years and have permission from all the land owners arourd his 20 acre field and wood lot. When we got to the truck you shoulda seen the look on his face when I opened the truck door and got my keys out to lock it up and started to walk to another area to sit. He ask if we had seen the no tresspassing signs he had posted up. I said yeah we don't hunt his puney 20 acres when I can hunt the almost 800 around him. He then said well I called the sherrifs office. I then said well we are going across the field, into the woods and just down the hill from there, So when the sherriffs dept. got there to just send them on down. LMAO It was funny as hell. I bet that was an embarracing call back to the sherriffs dept. explaining that there wasnt actually tresspassers on his 20 acres. While we were walking to where I told him to send the officer he decided to go ahead and leave. I told my buddy that I hoped that the sherriffs officer that showed up was my cousin. One of the propertiesy that i hunt out there belongs to our great uncle.

Hello, am I an alternate here on team 4?? Just checking in if so, season starts on Saturday...

wallhangr 11-17-2010 07:41 AM

Got an 8 pointer with a busted off tine that would have made him a 9 on Opening Day, scored 115 1/8. Would have easily been 120 with the missing tine. Will try to get the pics and story posted tonight!

jemrami9 11-25-2010 12:21 PM

dead issue here? Doe and buck down, doesnt seem to matter apparently...... Take care guys!

Why doesn't it matter. Your welcome om the team.

DDMPrecision 11-25-2010 06:22 PM

Season started a week ago, and I haven't been out yet.
But, got an invite to hunt a hot section of western NY next weekend! Snow in the forecast! WOOHOO!

mossberghunter93 11-29-2010 05:30 AM

shot a button buck this morning fellas, i already posted it on the score card. Is it worth 25 points just like a doe?

jrbsr 11-29-2010 06:05 AM

Yes it does, as long as the antlers Don't stick through the skin.
So you got 25 points for your team.
Congratulations.

For a button buck, that the antlers Don't stick through the skin, will count as a doe.

mossberghunter93 11-29-2010 07:16 AM

well they did stick throught the skin, but i thought it was a doe when shot it and it doesnt count towards my single buck tag that i have in ohio

wallhangr 11-29-2010 10:04 AM

Here's a cell pic of my rifle buck hanging, still trying to find one that will fit all the requirements (can't seem to find one with the rifle in pic).

This guy was chasing off a smaller 8 I had seen earlier trailing a doe. Was a 25 yd shot, dropped in his tracks, although he proceeded to slide the remaining 25 yards down the hillside I was on.

KYDeerHunter03 12-06-2010 03:13 AM

Shot a doe for us...yay!!!! Sorry I couldnt contribute more

DDMPrecision 12-06-2010 07:21 AM

Rock it out gang!
I get to go out today for the first time all gun season!
Time to do spot and stalk I think.....plenty of fresh snow to track them!
WOOHOO!

DDMPrecision 12-25-2010 05:14 AM

Well gang, I'm done. The season ended a couple days ago, and unfortunately, I got skunked for the second year in a row.
I gave it my best, but the deer were being uncooperative...
Not even a shot all season, bow, long gun, or muzzleloader...
I am starting to hate this state...
