Hunt4Life23 09-23-2010 06:13 AM

wis_rifle_hunter 09-23-2010 05:12 PM

i wont be heading out this weekend due to harvest of our corn. i will be hopefully going out sometime next week and next weekend. i won't be able to hunt in the evenings very long now. i got switched to night sift milking so i have to quit hunting around 4 or so

Lady Forge 09-23-2010 05:44 PM

Got all the goodies descented and then hung outdoors for 2 days to give them that fresh air smell, got the deer scouted and patterened, the bows sighted in and I Am Ready...... and that full harvest moon has really got me in the mood to do some hunting!

Bucktail_Bob 09-27-2010 06:02 AM

I was out scouting on Sat. in Northern IL, I was very surprised see at least 10 scrapes hit very hard. They were all field edge scrapes.
Them boys are already thinking about it. I'll be out in a few weeks. Looking good!

Good luck to all of you in the coming weeks. I am looking forward to Friday as it is our opener. it has been a long dry hot summer here so the cool weather this week is welcomed.

midsouth_hunter 09-27-2010 05:05 PM

Glad to see everyone is getting ready for season. Looking forward About a a month and a half to my midwest trip. Can't wait. Good luck all.

Hunt4Life23 09-28-2010 11:26 AM

seems like everyone will be getting out there at basically the same time. good luck to all this weekend, hopefully we can get at least one on the board!

midsouth_hunter 09-29-2010 11:16 AM

Yes, it does look like everyone is getting in at the same time. I would be in the woods now here in Florida but in order for me to huint some public land, I have to drive for almost 2 hours each way and then brave the heat, swamps and biting bugs. I love to hunt but Central Florida leaves something to be desired in September. I will get out in October though, just waiting for the first cold (cool) front to move in.

AF Hunter 09-29-2010 07:13 PM

32 hours til the season opens here!!!!!!

densfbs 09-30-2010 08:07 AM

Well I got my required Doe at the Park so I am now
BUCK HUNTING BABY:barmy:
I got some great video footage from my treestand opening day.. I had a shooter 12 point buck come into 9 yards from my treestand and just hung there in his staging area for roughly 20 minutes... he was then joined by a 8 point buck... they put on a real show for my video camera:biggrin:
To bad he didnt come in till
after I had gotten my required Doe:rant:
Checkout the entrance hole the Grim Reaper 2 inch cut Broadhead did on this Doe:s4:

Hunt4Life23 10-04-2010 08:09 AM

wow thats a crazy big hole. congrats on the doe, hopefully another big buck will come in for you now!!

i went out this morning in the rain but didnt see any deer, too bad

densfbs 10-04-2010 01:24 PM

I made it out opening morning but didn't see a deer. Was out last night and had 11 does come in just out of bow range. Knowing where the does are will be huge in the next few weeks. Just have to be patient now.

wis_rifle_hunter 10-04-2010 06:00 PM

congrats on the kill lady!! thats one heck of a hole you put through her. hopefully now you can do the same thing to mature buck. i went out this weekend and didn't see much. seen a half rack saturday and a few does then sunday just hunted the morning and seen 2 does

Yesterday morning I headed to the park on the herd reduction Bowhunt ...I took the climber and climbed one of my favorite trees... its a great spot I have proabably killed 10 deer out of it over the last few years
First I see a yote come trotting through after it had ran by Christine at 15 yards ( she was just a few hundred yards away in another tree and they dont allow us to kill yotes in the park ) and then not any thing else for about an hour except a lone doe out of range... then in the thicket I see movement, first thing I thought was , DAMIT here comes a pack of yotes, but it wasnt yotes it was 2 does with their young ones. Once they cleared the thicket I saw I had a nice hole to shoot through on the trail they were traveling on. The first doe entered the hole and I bleated to stop her and settled the 20 yard pin on her and let it rip.... shot looked perfect... grabed another arrow nocked it and the 2nd deer entered the hole and I mouth bleated to stop it and settled the pin again and let it rip... shot looked like a good double lung... grabbed another arrow and nocked it and the 3rd doe entered the hole and I rembered I only had one tag left and I needed to save it for a buck.. so the 3rd Doe got a free pass
Well the 1st Doe was a perfect heart shot and went about 40 yards and dropped dead... the 2nd deer was her button and it was a double lung that cut half of a rib on the entrance and completely broke in half the exit rib and it dropped not 6 feet from its mother.
Now I prefer not to shoot button bucks but unfortunatly I didnt see its buttons
Here are few pics.

Hunt4Life23 10-07-2010 06:07 AM

Dammmmmit:bash:
Well... I know where your " Stupid Stand Is At ":p

I had Cabbage and squash for dinner so what ever spot I hunt tommorrow will now be known as the " Windy Stand "

HNI_Christine 10-07-2010 05:54 PM

Kendall hunted the 'Stupid Stand' today. He scared the poop out of a hiker but that's it. :D

The stand where I hunted the other night will now be know as the 'poison ivy stand'. Note the top part of my climber in the photo. It was like that most of the way up... and it was even more annoying trying to come down.

...note to self.. hunt upwind of Deb. LOL!

Nothing to report. And now you know the rest of the story.

wis_rifle_hunter 10-09-2010 04:06 PM

congrats lady on slaying some deer. i have yet to see and decent buck. it was about 85 degrees here and sunny so we were picking corn like crazy today. i wanted to go out but the family business comes first

sr77 10-09-2010 09:18 PM

Hey team I have been working crazy hours at work and have not been on much. I have managed to get out 3 times and have smoked 2 does already, both heart shots. Buck activity has been so slow. Apparently it has been like this all over around here, at least those are the reports I am getting. Will be out wed/thurs. this week. I will post pics of the does shortly.

Shane

Congrats on the Doe's !!!!!!!!!!!!
Looking forward to seeing the pictures.

Ya its been hot hot here and Im not seeing much buck activity also,,, just the usual rubs etc that you would see at this time of year... but no real strong movement, Stayed home today since it is supposed to be 91 degrees ...cant wait for this dagum heat wave to break:s6:

Bucktail_Bob 10-10-2010 04:58 AM

Sorry if I have not posted for a while. I'll be out in the deer woods in a couple weeks. It's been way to hot for me. I plan on doing all my doe wacking with my pistol during the gun season, so I will only concentrate on horns when I get out. They have already starting to harvest the corn in northern IL. Last year it was mid Nov.
Corgrats to everyone who has connected on some early season loins.
