Still haven't been out. Heck, still haven't bought my hunting license. This morning I awoke to about 20 deer surrounding my mom's house. Only a few bucks. My BIL said there was a huge 8 or 10 point around the corner from his mom's house. FYI, that's in the middle of suburbia. The good news is that I have access to woods near there. Heck, deer are all over the place. Plenty of bucks running around this year. I've been thinking real hard and looked at my vacation time on the books, 240 hours. Seems I'm putting in for 2 weeks in the middle of Nov. I'll shoot one then for the team, then get my shoulder fixed in Dec.
Good luck guys

No need to get nervous gents.....patiently waiting for the rut....and thats all that really matters.

Bingo, that says it all. Looking forward to those few weeks going north to hunt. Shooting them is definitely harder due to one doe screwing up your approaching buck by pulling him off the trail, not to mention them flying all around like the monkeys in the wizard of oz. However, it's a site to behold when a dozen or so bucks are chasing a dozen or so does!

Well got Skunked tonight, Saw one freaking Deer, and she was out long enough to see if there were deer in the feild ( there wernt) and she went right back into the woods. I kind of changed my gameplan for tonight because where i turn togo back into the woods on this one property there was alot of sign right where i go in, so i decided to sit there, i should have sat in the woods, because the Acorns are starting to fall by the Gallon, and the deer arnt bothered with the feilds right now..So i guess thats why they call it hunting..But all in all nice night in the Woods..

Guys, here is the best advice I can give you in the coming rut. If you're in the woods, waiting for your deer and see a hot doe with a buck or 2 in tow, when they leave, you move to that trail. You did nothing wrong except the fact you found yourself on the wrong trail. Move to the trail she just came up and do it right after they get out of range. Chances are more bucks will come up that same trail not long after. The noise you make will be minimal. The choice not to move will more than likely have you watching that shooter buck go right by out of range.
