Sorry he was just a lil one guys but he put on a show and being the opener and all I couldnt help myself. In a couple of other contests that I am in, when you live in a multiple bird state you get to submit your highest scoring bird, but in this one the rules state that you have to enter you first bird. Oh well a small score is better than no score right???

It's finally here! Leaving in a couple hours for Ohio. It's been raining there since the opener Monday and tomorrow will be the first day of good weather.
Can't wait to get started! Taking the laptop with me, so hope to be able to update with pics.

Well guys, I'll be bowhunting themfrom here on out. Killed onthe first day I hunted this year. I'll have 2 full weekends to get it done, I'm crossing my fingers. Here's the one I killed yesterday with a gun.

Congrats on the bird Rory!
Back from Ohio, my calves are still burning. I thought we hunted some hills around here but this was ridiculous. It was up and downhills all morning, every day. We had multiple birds gobbling every morning at sunrise, but next to nothing once they hit the ground. Had to compete with hens for nearly all of them.
Did have a couple in close, just not close enough or in the open. It was still a great trip, had one is close enough to hear him go into full strut and watched another come in from 100 yards as close as probably 40 - but no shot.
Also picked up a couple new calls from my hosts, a glass friction and a mouth call that my guide made. Hope to put them to good use starting tomorrow!

Congrats again Rory, I had a gobbless weekend. We had high winds all weekend so it was not ideal turkey conditions. Saw a few hens and a jake but no luck on a longbeard. Will be hunting hard untill may 6 when our season closes. Good luck to the rest of you guys.
