Wow Congrats on the doe. When does your season open. I didn't realize any gun seasons opened this early.

James Vee 09-05-2009 06:05 AM

I've got a pile of depredation tags for does only. My season started here on July 30th. :)

Zim 09-06-2009 05:22 AM

We got guys from Tennessee, Louisiana and Australia?! Yikes these are not the best big buck hotspots. :) You guys hunting out of state? Anyway I am checking in from Illinois. I drew slammer west-central public land firearm tags here for both shotgun and muzzleloader seasons. Got shut out of the lottery last year. Now just have to hope I don't kill 2 brutes in archery season. I think I am getting laid off Oct. 1st from USPS so I am expecting a long hunting season this year! :)

bush_pig 09-11-2009 02:20 AM

how do you check in.

in a couple of weeks i will go out hunting hope to get a deer.

Zim 09-12-2009 04:35 AM

Don't worry about checking in, you just did. You need to worry about bagging a deer in the outback. :)

Where will you be hunting?

dh1984 09-17-2009 08:46 PM

dh1984 checking in and my season starts nov 21

Update

I am taking a trip to a new shooting range Sunday. Also taking my unofficial adopted step-son to shoot a gun for his first time. His mom dumped me (like all the others) but he needs a dad so I volunteered. :) He is pretty excited about it. He will be joining the Marines soon too.

He'll get to shoot my Remington .300 win mag rifle, Thompson .50 Omega muzzleloader, and Remington 1100 12 ga. shotgun.

I'll likely just use the muzzleloader for my deer hunts.

bush_pig 10-11-2009 01:05 PM

thats a nice thing.its sad how people can just dump their kids :(.how old is he

ffemt 1271, got a 3 point 10/31, but had to leave for work, will get pics and score up tomorrow night

James Vee 11-01-2009 01:24 PM

Awesome! Thanks for the contribution.

I'll be headed to MN this coming weekend to get my rifle season started. I was lucky enough to drill a nice buck with a bow on September 30th in Wisconsin. I'll be rifle hunting MN, WI, then off to KS in December. I'm hoping that with those kind of states in line that I'll be able to put a good one on the ground.

I need to know who your team captain is?

Go here to tell me. --> http://huntingnet.com/forum/2009-2010-deer-hunting-contest/303104-team-s-1-3-5-6-8-10-11-14-16-18-team-captains-let-me-know.html#post3435181

Thank You

jrbsr

James Vee 11-07-2009 04:37 PM

Not sure that I want to be team captain, but whatever. I shot a 10 point today in MN. I was by myself and more concerned about how I was going to get the deer out of the woods than I was about taking pictures. I don't have any pictures with me or the tag in them. The buck wouldn't score really high anyways. Hoping to get a higher scoring buck in WI or KS still this year. He did dress out at 208lbs though! Talk about a tough drag!

jrbsr 11-07-2009 05:21 PM

Can you get someone to take the picture for you?

James Vee 11-08-2009 04:37 AM

Thanks but I'm really not too worried about it. I usually do my own processing, but didn't even bother with this one. Too busy and too warm. Shot a doe last night in Wisconsin too. Plenty of rifle seasons left for me with Wisconsin and Kansas still to come.

IL-Cornfed 11-11-2009 02:44 PM

I'm checkin' in as an Alternate!

Lookin' forward to our firearm season here in Illinois opening on Nov. 20.

I've been bowhunting hard, here in West-Central IL, for the last couple weeks and I've seen some brutes that I would be honored to take with my T/C Encore 209x.50 during our general firearm season or our muzzleloader season.

Looking forward to being on the Team 14 guys!

Best of luck to all of ya this season!

James Vee 11-11-2009 05:13 PM

Pretty glad to have you here IL as a replacement for DD. I get tired of looking at his pictures anyways. Got any cam pictures to share of any bucks that your going after? I've got Wi gun season and I'll be headed down to KS in December as well. Should be a good year.

IL-Cornfed 11-17-2009 07:37 PM

JV, it's been a tough year for even my trail cams this season. Being surrounded by hundreds of acres of standing corn, the buck movement has been much more random than in seasons past, keeping them off traditional trail networks and running and chasing the ladies wherever they want this season. However, I also scaled down the number of trail cams I'm using this season as well. I've removed the flash cams totally during the hunting season and I'm relying on IR's until the season is over.

Not much of any size, just some with potential. These are a couple of the better bucks that have showed up consistently thus far. These 2 below have already asked to be tagged a couple of times during the bow season. I've seen some far better bucks but can't even get 'em close to my cam set-ups. Like I said, it's been a frustrating season up to this point.

jr 1968 11-19-2009 07:54 PM

Hi Guy's
Our season starts sat. Getting excited!!
So good luck to ya all.

IL-Cornfed 11-24-2009 02:31 PM

The first 3 day weekend of our gun season has come and gone and I never filled a tag. I'm proud that I helped my boys, ages 9 & 10, collect their first bucks this season but unfortunately my tag remains unfilled.

That being said our second half of our gun season is Dec 3 - 6 then our Muzzleloader season runs Dec 11 - 13.... maybe with a little luck I can still score of a trophy buck for Team 14.

Good luck to the rest of you guys and gals this season!

Silent_Crow13 11-25-2009 01:41 PM

I'm going hunting Thursday, Friday, and Saturday on a friends property. He says the deer are moving alot at the place he told me to go, so maybe I'll walk out with some meat.

This is a deer contest, we ain't interested in MEAT.... we only get extra points for ANTLER!

James Vee 12-05-2009 03:15 AM

shot one in KS, not a monster though. 10 points with split brows. 12 points total. Won't use him for the contest though because he broke his right G2. Guess its back lto the MN buck for the contest.

James Vee 12-08-2009 03:59 PM

Am I the only one that checks in on here anymore?

James Vee 12-14-2009 05:18 PM

I guess I won't bother scoring either of the two bucks I shot this year then.

James Vee 12-18-2009 01:56 PM

For what it's worth.

jrbsr 12-18-2009 04:03 PM

Congratulations.
What does he score?
