The bow hunting was sure slow this weekend, only saw 6 does in three sits. Nothing close to shoot. I did not see a buck all weekend. Shot a limit of ducks sat. morning, that was fun.
The crops are still in where I hunt and the bucks have only been moving after dark, thats what everone that has trail cameras are saying. It will pick up as soon as the crops come out and the rut starts.
Anybody seeing anything while out?

I put around 40 hours in the stand this week and only saw two. An eight point right under the stand and a doe off a ways. I sure hope opener on Nov. 7th is a little more productive. The cameras had a shooter on it maybe a mid 130's 8 pt. No monsters but I put two cams out and made a mock scrape. I will be checking again in 3 weeks.

Well i had been seeing a lot of bucks out in the fields i hunt before dark but lately it has been almost all does, seems like the bucks are lowering their food intake quite a bit. Have had a lot of action though, the last three nights out ive seen 46 does and 5 bucks.

jason

I don't know that the bucks are eating less but what I have noticed more than any other year is that the bucks are being seen in the mid day and at night. My cameras also proved it. The muture bucks 3 1/2 and up where on camera for 11:30 to 12:30 and then again at around 10:00 at night. Have you had cameras out to see when they have been moving? It will all change in two weeks I am sure but I will be sitting from sun up to sun down.
Good Luck!!!

From all the reports around here the bucks are starting to get on the prowl. Should be a more productive weekend around here anyway. This is the last weekend of the early muzzleloader season here in Iowa and the wife has yet to blow some smoke, so I hope she gets a chance this weekend.

The hunting has been pretty slow so far around here but it looks like things are picking up.

Started seeing some bucks this weekend. 3 sat but nothing yesterday. One of the bucks that i saw on sat. is real wide, I would not doubt if he was 24" wide. I know he will go 22" atleast.
He is just a 8pt from what I could see but he will be in the 150 class. I thought I was going to get a 30 yard shot at him but he turned and went away from me to go to the unpicked corn. Maybe next time.
