Hey hey! Deerslayer checking in... A bit about myself.. My name is Shane Griggs..
I live in central IL but hunt the great Pike County IL.. I have access to around 1000 acres private ground that me, a buddy, and a few Chicago hunters hunt.. last year was the first year in 5 years that I did not harvest a buck.. I let two 135" deer walk last year and had a wild encounter with a 150" buck with a droptine.. Needless to say I had a frustrating year.. BUT, my buddy harvested a 156" buck and I walked away with nothing but awesome memories.. My biggest deer to date is a 170" 12 that I harvested in '05 and 2 years ago I harvested a 160" main frame 8.. (as seen in avatar).. I have had my trail cams out but nothing too monsterous on them.. to see my pictures you can go to my outfitting website and see what we have going on... www.goldenacresoutfitters.com Good to be on a stacked team like this!!

Welcome Shane, sounds like a hell of an operation your guys run over there. Where do you live in central IL? I'm in Heyworth, 10 miles south of Bloomington/Normal. I'm hunting along the Mackinaw, closer to Peoria. Saw some real good deer last year, it was the first year on the property, and it seemed like no matter where I hung, I was 50 yards off. But, this year, i'm more confident in my setups, so we'll see what happens.

Mercs, glad to see a fellow long-draw shooter! My commander is at 32".

Copy that Yoop! i switched bows from the Trykon to the Alpha and picked up 60 FPS with that long draw. Should help with those hard yardage guesses having one pin to 30 and all.

I shot the Trykon when it first came out, didn't like the hump in the draw cycle AT ALL. I shot a Vectrix a few times and really liked it, but they only went to 31" and I just didn't feel comfortable with it. This will be my 3rd season with my Commander and i'm very happy with it. Pretty limited selection for guys with monkey armed draw lengths. Ross archery has a couple of long ones, but looking at IBOs, they are snails.

Heading out in a couple hours to hang some stands, beautiful day for it. See what the sign looks like too, with no cows around this year, the only trails out there will be deer-made.
