Mathews
Hope all is going well with your mom! I know the stress...

I've been hunting quite a bit, but haven't seen much til last Friday evening when a nice 120ish buck came out of the farmer's woods as I was driving away, lol. Sat morning I was ready to nail a doe at 10yds, but she was quartering on, spotted me, and decided to feed about another 30 yds away.

Good luck all.

Hey guys, I updated the first post w/ our current score so you can keep track of where we are, way to get us off to a GREAT start IL w/ that 150!!!!

Mathews - Hope things are going ok w/ your mom, we'll keep her in our prayers! Keep us posted.

Well I knew it was only a matter of time before I started getting better bucks on cam, got a bunch of this guy over the weekend, looks like a decent 10 pt, I'm thinking maybe 115-125" what do you guys think?? I know theres gotta be bigger ones out there, but I dont know if I'd be able to let him walk. I'm hoping for something w/ more mass, cause he still looks fairly young (3.5 yr IMO).

Anyway I'll be heading down to VA this weekend to hunt all day Fri & Sat, I will hold out for 120 or better down there, then I'm hoping to stop by FSH's for some shooting on sunday...

Anybody else getting out??

Mom is doing better, she came home on Sat Night. I was able to get out this mourning. I saw a couple of Does no shots. I'll be out in the mourning also again, along with Tomorrow night as well.

I start Midnighters here on wed night so i'll be out evenings for the next 7 days.

Thanks for the prayers and the well wishes, means alot thx again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guys - After a summer of training with frozen deer blood and deer legs, I finally got to take my young doxie, Ruby, on a real "training" track yesterday afternoon. She took to the 120 yd track with enthusiasm - she corrected herself a few times on the trail as two other does ran off with the doe. It was fun to watch her first encounter with a deer up close and personal - she soon got over her shyness and was soon working the doe's ears. She did great! No points for the team, but the plus side is that the doe satisfies the earn-a-buck requirement on the land I was hunting.

A few pics (quartering away shot - that is the entry hole, came out the opposite arm pit):
