Dang those deer are smokin!

Any team name ideas everyone?

Anthony T. 08-19-2009 06:22 PM

Just wanted to get to know everyone! I'm Anthony from SW VA. I'm just getting back into bowhunting this year after bout an 8 yr vacation. But don't worry, I'm pretty good with a bow and am putting down my old PSE baby G for either a drenalin, reezen, or admiral. I started work on a huge farm last year and have access to 1000's of acres of prime!!! Dropped a 144 gross 8pt with a rifle there last year and seen footage of a huge 10 on a logger's cell thats logging up there!!! I'll get pics of me and some of my deer up when I get my new PC. Can't do much on this mobile web. Should have my computer in a few weeks. Some names ideas: Arrows and antlers?, Highcountry headhunters?, Just some ideas. Anyways good luck everyone! Lets go get em!

WakeCow 08-20-2009 07:26 AM

Mahoning got some nice bucks there!!! I know I'm due for sure. I've been pretty busy this summer and still haven't put out cameras. Sounds like I picked up 69 more acres to hunt so thats good! Good luck getting that big boy this year!

The Deer Destroyer 08-20-2009 01:03 PM

TDD checking in. Names Mitchell, and I'm from Ohio.

sportsman22 08-23-2009 03:34 PM

Hey fellas. Sorry it took so long to check-in. Just got done working masonry for the summer, and heading to school that contains the best hunting land Wisconsin has to offer (Buffalo County). Got a few bruisers on the trail-cam over the summer and ready to take down one down this summer.

My name is Brad, from Freedom, WI (Near Green Bay and Appleton). 23 years young.

Lets get 'em

jbowersox 08-23-2009 06:05 PM

3 more to go.

Pa Trophy Man 08-24-2009 07:45 AM

Jbower,

What part of PA are you in??

Anybody got any good trail cam pics to share? How's the scouting going? What setup is everyone shooting?

I'll be hunting in NW PA. Crawford County. I'm originally from there and I spend two weeks every year bowhunting with my father in law. The antler restrictions are really making a difference in our part of the state. I saw lots of nice bucks last year, and got quite a few on trail cam. I haven't been able to get up there yet this year, so I'm going old school without the trailcam this year.

WakeCow 08-24-2009 10:25 PM

I sent the remaining 3 a PM reminder to check in on the thread. I think maybe we should start throwing around some names.

sportsman22 08-25-2009 04:41 PM

Pope & Young Pounders
Wall Mount Productions

CtElkHunter 08-25-2009 06:28 PM

Hey guys, my name is Jack
I will be hunting some private land as well as a piece of state land here in Ct. I have seen a ton of moms and fawns but no bucks yet.

The Deer Destroyer 08-27-2009 05:40 AM

Well my dad (ManOfTheFall) (team 4) and I have seen at least 10 or 11 shooters this year. So hopefully he doesn't get a crack at either the 160 or 180 typicals we have running around or even the 180 non-typical we have as well. Just saw the non-typical this past Monday, big wide with points everywhere and he might even be better than 180s. JK, I hope my dad gets one. He's had some bad luck when it's come to big bucks. One year, I think 03, he shot a monster non-typical but hit him and barely wounded him even though the blood trail was pretty good. Buck def. woulda scored in the 200s for sure. I know people laugh when guys say they got bucks that big but they're shot every year so I don't get it. We have a great spot here in Ohio, and the big typical we saw was at least 25 inches wide and had big tall points, at least 12 that were all tall so if you don't think he goes at least 180, then what would he go? Also got a few 140s and 150s, and a few 130s and 120s. Looking to be a good year for us though. And always, we'll do our share taking out some does.

The Deer Destroyer 08-27-2009 06:02 AM

Any of you guys seeing nice bucks?

sportsman22 08-27-2009 06:05 AM

I have a nice 8 on camera and seeing a 10 and another 8 on the land that connects to mine. I have two stands this year but I think I want to add another one quickly on the property line.

The Deer Destroyer 08-28-2009 05:58 AM

Throwing out a name. The Double Lungers

The Deer Destroyer 08-28-2009 06:03 AM

Boone N Crockett Chasers?

The Deer Destroyer 08-28-2009 06:05 AM

Although I like the name, The Deer Assassins.

Pa Trophy Man 08-28-2009 08:53 AM

Hey guys just wanted to check in, I've been ultra busy with work the last few weeks but it will get better and i should get a fair amount of hunting time in. When does everyones season start?

WakeCow 08-28-2009 10:43 AM

Starting the 19th this year week later than last year. Getting excited!!!!!

CtElkHunter 08-28-2009 04:16 PM

Both the state land and private land i hunt runs from 9/15 thru the end of the year. I was also trying to draw a muzzleloader tag in Illinois, but found out today we didn't draw. So back to the drawing board for that hunt

The Deer Destroyer 08-29-2009 08:34 AM

Ohio starts Sept. 26th.

sportsman22 08-29-2009 11:01 AM

Sept. 12 yahoo!

Vogt_51 08-30-2009 11:52 PM

Vogt_51 checking in.....

Sorry for it taking so long, this site has really got on my nerves with the logging in problems. Either way, I am here now. I am from Central Illinois and will be in the woods starting Oct. 1st.

Good luck, I'll be in touch.

WakeCow 08-31-2009 09:54 PM

Hey guys we need a name and a captain. Couple more names Cardiac Kidz, Heart Trouble or Lung Lancers.

I'll vote for PA Trophy Man for captain.

WakeCow 09-01-2009 05:41 AM

guess lung lancers is taken cross that one off

The Deer Destroyer 09-01-2009 02:06 PM

If no1 wants it, I'll be the captain. Although, what is the captain in charge of? This is my 1st year doing this contest.

WakeCow 09-01-2009 09:08 PM

I have no problem with deer destroyer being captain.

sportsman22 09-02-2009 07:06 AM

Whoever is on the forums the most should be captain. Someone who knows the ropes of scoring, hunting, and keeping everyone up to date.

I'll vote Deer Destroyer as well

Pa Trophy Man 09-02-2009 07:53 AM

Hey guys,

Appreciate the nod Wakecow, but i'll respectfully decline. I am sometimes sporadic with how much i get on here due to work. I agree the guy with the most time available should do it, and i don't want to short change anyone. Deer destroyer will make a fine captain in my book. As far as names go "Heart Trouble" has got my vote.

CtElkHunter 09-02-2009 06:16 PM

I am good with Destroyer being captain. I am usually on to check stuff every night, but i am not so sure about scoring. The 2 bucks i have taken weren't worth scoring. This is my 3rd year in the contest and have been skunked the last 2 years. Last year my team finished in the top10. I am getting the hang of how the contest works. Make sure you have you bow in the picture with your deer. I got my license and tags yesterday. Do any of you guys do fall turkey with your bow? What about elk, I have been out to NM 3 times it is a great experience. Hoping to go back next year.

CtElkHunter 09-05-2009 05:16 AM

Guys, We need to make some decisions here. Wake I saw your post about the missing team members, any response from Cannon. We are still short one guy.

WakeCow 09-05-2009 05:18 PM

I haven't heard from him

jbowersox 09-05-2009 05:23 PM

Deer Destroyer is fine with me also. Heart trouble is a pretty cool name. If you all like it I'm all for it.
