I'm so bummed, some of you get to hunt in a week or two and I have to wait until Oct. 1st. Oh well I'm cheering you gents on, get out there and put some points on the board and have fun. My hunting dont get good until later in oct. Get some of the crops out and look-out the deer hunting gets better and the rut will be just around the corner.

I will be away for the long weekend so you guys keep us on top of things here.
Have a good weekend and be safe.
See ya all monday evening, I'm going bull riding with my students.

Hey all. Im getting pumped to. I have a three day weekend for labor day so hopefully I can get out and do a little scouting and try finding some real bone. I will be going to a 3D shoot sunday with a friend so that should be fun.
I had another football game last night. Our freshman kicked @$$ once again. 41-6. First half was a close 7-6. Then the second half we took over. I played the whole game on defense and on pretty much all special teams.

Don't get too envious. I cannot hunt bucks until October 3rd. This the early "doe-only" archery season that starts in my section of the state. Otherwise I would not be out there hunting until October.

I pulled the game cam this morning but didn't check the pics yet. 42 hits in the 2 week time frame it has been sitting out there.

My season opens October 15th. I will hunt some with the gun after Thanksgiving, but mostly with the bow until Jan 31 in AL and Through February for Florida.

I decided to make the switch from gun/bow to bow/crossbow two years ago. Land around my immediate area is difficult to hunt with a rifle (too many housing developments popping up) so it only gets pulled out once or twice a year for a cleaning.

I do miss those days up at deer camp.

All hope is not lost. I had a broken foot last year for the beginning of our archery season. I managed to find a spot only about 50 or 60 yards from one of the local roads that was receiving decent deer traffic. A little camo on the crutches and I was good to go.

Well, I had the pictures developed today and I am a bit bummed. I had originally put the camera in one location and only 7 pics in about a week and a half time frame so I moved it to a second spot. That is where the other 40-odd "hits" came from. The first 7 pics were all deer...one small buck and the rest were does and fawns. The last 40-some pics must have been because of the sun because I did not have a single deer on any of them.

I am going to move it again tomorrow to see if I can find a more productive spot. At least I know where not to hunt come two weeks...
