Took a tour of the hunting area & in the last couple days TONs of rubs & a few scrapes JUST showing up. Their pickinhg ALL the crops since Friday.
Will be going tomorrow & hopefully not missing many days until i fill my tag or gun season opens.
Good luck to all-the BEST should just be starting. I've checked with area hunters & it's been very slow everywhere.

Went to get Daughter & she said she had to work a 2nd shift (Nurse-16 hrs.) Anyway, I go & at 4pm do a snort wheeze, then rattle for about 1 min., wait 2 min & rattle another 30 seconds (thats my routine). I look up & this Guy is charging across a open field & stops right at my stand-less than 20 yds. Nice 8 pointer. I love my Daughter-she has NEVER gotten a shot at a deer, so I took his picture without him knowing. He offered me quartering away-looking away 15 yd shot & then another Broadside.
IF SHE HAD ONLY BEEN THERE.

Headed back down this afternoon after my firefighter interview. Probably wont be able to hunt but I have all day tomorrow and then gun season starts Saturday. Hopefully I can bag one before the guns start going off.

Well, just got back to work (took a week off for hunting), the action was slow. I only seen 4 bucks and all were nothing I wanted to shoot. But, the woods was stirring all day Thursday. It started off slow with a few deer here and there and at 10 it seemed like a steady parade of deer. Between 10 and 2 I seen around 15 with 5 of them being bucks and one was a bruiser at that. I could have shot all of them except one, wanna guess which one???? He was around me for around 20 minutes anywhere from 30-60yds, but would not give me an opening. Action died for an hour or so and seen doe's and 3 bucks before nightfall.

I am paying for it now since I got no sleep and am working until 7:30am, the bad part is I keep thinking about heading out to the stand when I get home in the morning until noon or so. The math doesn't look good though, up for 36hrs if I do it. I guess the answer is no-----for now.

Gun season opens up Sunday here, I should be out with the bow Mon.-Thurs. I would really like to get a crack at the big guy. I have him on camera a few times, but they have all been at night this is the first day time action I've seen out of him. I hope to stick him before my window of opportunity closes.

Good luck all,
Chris

I've been skunked since I rattled in the 8 pointer & could not go today since they put in new windows in my house & i'm trying to get everything back in place.
ANyWAY-I have a timber next to my house & look out at 3pm today & see 5 Bucks chasing 2 little Does all over my yard. All the Bucks are like the 8 I took the pic of & posted. Then a little 6 comes trailing in & EVEN a button Buck.
I "DO" have a permit to hunt my yard.
Anyway-frustrating to get skunked. I have 20 days or so yet...

I see a Biggie 10 lickin a Does behind today in the timber 70 yds away by my house. Daughter & I go hunting this afternoon in the 25 mph wind & rain & see nothing. Crunch time....
