Week 4 scores talk.
Shot my round today did better than last week but still under 400.[&o] I thought I would shoot my round in the beginning so I don't have to see other peoples scores before I shoot and get discouraged and so I can focus more and practicing during the week.:D Hopefully next week will better:D.

RE: Week 4 scores talk.
Man I'm so pumped! I finally broke the 430 mark. I shot TWO 450 Vegas rounds tonight after work in the basement. The first one was 429 12X. I was 1 point away from breaking the 430 mark for the first time.
So I said screw it and decided to shoot another round. I'm glad I did, because I caught fire in the second and third games of the second round. I ended up with a 436 - 19X! That's a record for me. The final game I shot a 148 - 8X. Everything just felt great. I've never had that feeling before. I wish I could do that every time..... |
RE: Week 4 scores talk.
Well, I shot my round yesterday and I shot a 419. I was hoping to get another round in before leaving for Gainesville Thursday. I worked with a guy tonight on my shooting and he took away my Thumb release and worked with me with his true back tension. Man o man, talk about some getting use to. After some 10 yard shots (about 40 or so) I was comfortable going out to 20 yards. The good news about seeing a coach was he said my form was pretty good, we worked on my grip because I was gripping the devil out of it with my thumb and pointer finger, but most everything else was good for where I am at as a shooter. There is a league shoot in Florence where we were shooting and I shot a 273 with the BT release. Not the best but I am somewhat satisfied with that score with the changes in my grip and a new release. I will post my scores before Thur.
Who else uses a true BT release to shoot this league? |
RE: Week 4 scores talk.
It may be a little premature to jump to conclusions - BUT...
Tonight I put my 30" Super Stix on in place of the little 6 1/2" stabilizer I've been using. It seemed to make a huge difference and I shotmy best score in 2 years. A little over a year ago (Dec '06) I had shoulder surgery. Boy, that's a long road back. I was finally shooting a 24 lb recurve this past July and graduated to a 30 lb by Sept. Getting back into compounds was a real fight and I cranked my Protec down to less than 40 lb during the summer and could usually hit a garbage pail at 20 yd. Although I've been able to shoot better with it the last 2 or 3 months, I sure couldn't hold it up with a long stabilizer on it. But tonight, things were looking up. The only down side was major fatigue the third game and it was noticeable in the score. Got 3 8's in my last 6 shots. But I'm grinning; just have to keep working on the stamina.:) |
RE: Week 4 scores talk.
Well, my X count went up, but my score was down a little. I guess it's mental, but when I warm up I shoot at a single spot and can drill X after X after X after X.......I even robinhooded another one......But man, you get me shooting at different spots.......BLAHHHHH........There's no rhyme or reason anymore, they're all over the place. I noticed on one of my spots I was grouping fairly consistently high/right so I aimed low/left.....Any guesses as to where I hit? Yeah, precisely where I was aiming. Next shot, I aimed at the X.....I don't remember where it hit but it wasn't the X, that's for sure.....I had 1 spot that I shot pretty consistently, and out of my 11 X's, 8 of them were just one spot.
I dunno, I managed to keep them all inside the 9 ring, which I'm pretty happy about.....It's like, I either hit the X or shot a 9, not very many 10's.....Fatter arrows will help some, but it's not an equipment issue, it's a ME issue. Maybe I'm just trying to get over this hump, take myself to my next level, and it's just not easy. |
RE: Week 4 scores talk.
I hear ya Mobo.. Shooting once a week just ain't getting it for me either. Hope to remedy that soon.

RE: Week 4 scores talk.
Equipment malfunction ruling....(and I know it's not a big deal)
I shot two games, last night, with my new bow. Everything was going along just fine.....(actually sighted my bow in with 7 shots and was finished with my first two games)......then the d-loop broke loose and the next arrow almost missed my entire scoring ring. I stopped what I was doing and tried a few shots at the center of the target. It's off, bad. I'm getting a new d-loop tied on, today....and my intention is to sight it back in and shoot my last game. Either that....or I'll start all over. Makes no difference.....but I hate to waste 30 shots!...lol First two games were (I think) 146/7x and 145/5x. Nothing out of the ordinary.......and I'd like to just finish that round. |
RE: Week 4 scores talk.
In comp I believe that the shot arrow would be counted..if it was a zero, it was a zero. For this league, do whatever you want. Seriously! It's for fun. I already see people shooting mutliple rounds and turning in the best score.
|
RE: Week 4 scores talk.
Believe me Bob....if I let one fly I'll count it. But this is truly an equipment malfunction.
Like I said....I hcp'd myself enough shooting a totally unfamiliar bow.....but I was shooting pretty good. No complaints. I'm getting a new d-loop tied on in a few. If he'll let me....I wanna do it.....just to know. |
RE: Week 4 scores talk.
I shot my best game tonight! I shot a 427-14x. I still had a round where i got a 26 so if i bring that up i could have broke my goal of shooting a 430. Maybe next week. I have been doing a lot of blank baling trying to get used to my new carter release and it seems to be helping, but i have a long way to go still.

RE: Week 4 scores talk.
Deer season ended today....:(. I ended the year with 2 hogs, 3 does, 2 coyotes, and one bobcat.
Now I can focus on shooting my bow for fun and ..... TURKEY SEASON!!! March 15th...Here I come!:D |
RE: Week 4 scores talk.
First two ends with the new bow were good. Last.....I had re-sighted afteran equip malfunction.....and my last end's score paid for it.
It is what it is. I shot it. |
RE: Week 4 scores talk.
I'm down to the wire again!
Who would have thought, that I work in an archery shop and I STILL can't find the time to shoot a round. I'm working too much [:o] |
RE: Week 4 scores talk.
I just got done shooting my score for this week. My groups were the best I have shot yet, score too. I started off about like I always shoot, then I don't know what happened that last 15 shots. All of the close ones were on the right side of theline that game. I noticed I felt more relaxed shooting this week, no tension in my muscles, and less shake in my pin.
Another thing, over the weeks I have noticed that I rarely miss high. If I am out of the x or 10 it is usually low. Any explanation for this? Is it because I come on the target from below it or just a bad hold? |
RE: Week 4 scores talk.
Shot pretty well tonight. I'm happy with it. I had a couple of brain farts mixed in there, I'm really in that spot where the only thing holding me back from better games is whats going on between my ears. I've gotta work on that. Once I realize I'm shooting really well, I end up forgetting what I need to do it seems.
Next week my score will likely be lower, at least in X count anyhow. I tore the sight off the bow tonight after my game and installed the pins sight I'm planning to use for 3D this year, and began sighting that in to prepare for an upcoming 3D shoot (Harrisburg) that I'll attend the weekend of the 9th. I'm leaving the bow setup with the same stabilizer/rest, etc.....only changing to a pins sight, and shooting skinnier/lighter arrows at around 290ish. I don't have an opportunity to shoot much foam in the next week to prepare, but I'll be shooting the heck out of the bow so that at least I'm prepared and making good strong shots. |
RE: Week 4 scores talk.
Damn rj, that's some great shootin'.....My goal for this season is 445 25x
Man if I can do that, I will piss myself!!!!!!! That is a great score on your part man, congrat's |
RE: Week 4 scores talk.
RJ way to go!
I know nothing about indoor, but I'd have to believe that a 447 would be competitive at any shoot on the national level, wouldn't it? That's incredible. jimbuckhunter and Mobo, congrats on making your personal best. I had my best game too this week. Feels good...:) |
RE: Week 4 scores talk.
Thanks guys. I've been putting in 3-4x as much time on the blank bale and with aiming excercises as I have actually shooting 20 yard games for a few weeks now, and it's starting to show.

RE: Week 4 scores talk.
I fell apart this week..... Not to make any excuses, but with all the running around moving from my appt. to the new house it's been very exhausting. Hopefully I can rebound next week and put up a better score.

RE: Week 4 scores talk.
I hope I can shoot my score on saterday. I was shooting the other day and noticed that my string was fraying real bad from the sharp edges on my super peep. The peep just kept fraying the string fiber by fiber. I had a new string made for it today so I will be putting her on tomarrow. As for the peep housing, It will be getting a few sharp edges debured......

RE: Week 4 scores talk.
I forgot my scores to type in. I was going to bring them to Fla. but left them at home. Its been pretty fun so far at the ASA. Our team did not do so well, but thats the way it goes. Hopefully today is good for me. I'm still getting used to the BT. If I get home in time tomorrow I will post my score if not it will have to be my by week.

RE: Week 4 scores talk.
Shot my worst round of the season just now.... 439 15X.... Heck, my practice round was a 443..... I have been going in reverse since week 3...
No excuses... I didn't execute. |
RE: Week 4 scores talk.
Well, I may not be shooting 440's, but I am very pleased to have met my short term goal (breaking 400). My new goal is to repeat next week. This round just felt so good. After shooting a practice round a couple days ago with 20 F and 25 knot winds, this was a big boost to my confidence. This was the fourth time this week my son and I shot together. That is what it is really all about.

RE: Week 4 scores talk.
I just posted my round. I was able to shoot it at work today in the Spot league. I shot REALLY well for me, shots were breaking well, and I was happy that I shot good with other people on the line with me.It's definately the best spot round I'veshot. I still have a little ways to go, but it felt good to winfor the night in leagues. However I think I'm going to have to rest my shoulder. I'm on the verge of hurting something [:@]

|
RE: Week 4 scores talk.
You got a round in. That is more than a lot of people did. I got lucky this week. Keep the pressure on, I need it.
|
RE: Week 4 scores talk.
I did decent for my sight to have moved during the first round( notice the 24) I am still improving though. I have got to get back to my pro shop;)
|
RE: Week 4 scores talk.
Where's the standings??? Oh, sure. I bet there is some excuse like there was a football game on last night, or something. Hehe. Just kidding. Seems like there was a noticeable lack of scores posted this week.
