I havent been keeping up with the team very good this year but this morning I could of killed us a good buck. I hunted a small spot where the deer are traveling back to a bedding area and all movement is early. I had a good 10 point come in but he never gave me more than a quartering to shot and I wont take that shot. I would of loved to kill this buck but I see hunters on TV taking this shot all the time and I just crinch. I am confident I could of smoked him but it is not worth a quartering to shot at a magnifecent animal in my opionion. just because I am confident I could of slipped an arrow in the vitals doesnt mean you should do it. No matter what happens the rest of the year I made the right decision!!!! Doug

These are pics from this morning on my trailcam. I am above and to the left and he finally got spooky and trotted out without offering a shot. It started to rain and the wind switched so I got out of there. Doug

You made the right decision, especially with rain coming. It's better to let him walk and have another chance at him than wound and lose him withno chance of seeing him again. Keep at it.

Germ, where's that score?
It was a warm day, I took him to the butcher ASAP. As soon as I pick up the meat, I will score him.

Well I had a positive end to the best part of the archery season. This morning I once again laid eyes on the buck that I missed last weekend. He came in to about 25 yards two different times but with the brush being too thick I was not about to wing another arrow at this truly incredible animal. I'm gonna try getting the pictures from my cousin who has him on camera. after seeing him this morning I believe he will push 160. truly awesome to see such a beast. I also had a chance at a 125 9 point but I just couldn't do it. Next week is our gun season so I'm hoping I can do some good with the gun. Good Luck everybody!

Well I had a good weekend. I got a 90+" buck with my blackpowder on the first day of rifle season Saturday. This isa buck I would have loved to have gotten with my bowbut I don't limit myself to bow only. It was a fun morning anyway and he came by after a heavy rain first light.

I had him figured somewhere around 98". Didn't get his right circumferences but giving it similar to the left it be right at 98"gross with the 1" abnormal point on the forked brow tine.
Had one of the backstraps marinated in Lowre's Steak and Chop and wrapped in bacon that night. Delicious.
