RE: Official Team 34 thread!
Well I went out yesterday evening after work. I decided to hunt some public ground that I drive by on my way home. I went to a spot that I had yote hunted a few times last year.
I walked across a grass field and into the timber a little ways and decided to climb up the first tree I found that I could get my climber up. As I was setting my bow down I noticed that I had forgot my quiver with arrows in it on top of my truck. Luckily I was only 150-200 yards from the truck, so it wasn't a long walk back to get them. At 6:30 I saw a deer cross the grass field about 80 yards out, not coming my way. About 10 mins later I had a doe and a fawn come down the edge of the field about 40 yards out, but I had no shot. Then with about 10 mins of legal time left I had a small buck come in and walk right under me. So, for going into a spot that I never deer hunted and just climbing up the first tree I found I thought it was a good evening. I will be going to my honey hole this weekend and I should get a doe. As long as the cattle stay away. Good luck everyone. |

RE: Official Team 34 thread!
Nice cool morning to open the season, at first light I had a spike come and bed down for about 15 mins then walk off, about a half hour later a doe and two little ones come walking buy followed buy the same spike. I enjoyed the opening morning taking in mother nature and having a day off work. Rob and I will be out for the evening hunt and you never know we might be one of the lucky ones to score on opening day.

RE: Official Team 34 thread!
Not much happening down here guys..... The deer aren't moving much on my properties. I've seen a handful of does but nothing in range. I'm trying to pace myself b/c I've got 3.90 months left to do this and things don't get good until December.
Good luck everyone. |

RE: Official Team 34 thread!
Had another close call last night had a big doe and her fawn within 8yd of me she was always looking my direction so i couldn't move. I've seen here now the 2 times i've hunted the stand she comes from the same spot at the same time and walks the same trail. I'm gona be set up a little different next time im in there. I'm ready to get the ball rolling if that means putting a slickhead down before some horns thats ok by me. I also had a black coyote within 10ft of me talk about being freaked out he snuck right up on me on the ground. Couldn't get a shot off though as he took off once we made eye contact. I'll be out tomorrow good luck.

RE: Official Team 34 thread!
hey guys its getting closer to the good time! i shot another doe last night. i have only had a couple basket racks in close enough toshoot though. i hung a stand in a new spot, its an over grown fence row entering into a pine grove and thick briarsits about 25 yards wide and runs about 150 yards and makes an S shapeon one side is a cut bean field and the other standing corn. i am going to wait till the last week of oct. and take Leroy (decoy) with me hopefully i can pull a bruiser out of their.
|
RE: Official Team 34 thread!
Doe down for me. I finally connected with the doe who has screwed with me quite a few times now. I saw her coming for 180yd i knew the trail she was on i ranged it when it met my foodplot. 25yd she came into slightly quartering to i held square in her shoulder and let my crossbow rip she jumped and i caught her in the spine. She flopped around for a few seconds as i recocked and adminstered and finisher to the heart. Great big doe for PA. I got pics i just gota upload em. I'm happy for having a broken hip and having to hunt off a gator. I'll take it! :)

RE: Official Team 34 thread!

RE: Official Team 34 thread!
I haven't been seeing anything at all, but finally Saturday morning I had a doe come in and give me a 25 yard shot. Its been really slow but I think things will be picking up, its getting colder and they are getting the corn out.

RE: Official Team 34 thread!
Another sit and nothing.
|
RE: Official Team 34 thread!
Still nothing.
|
RE: Official Team 34 thread!
I killed a doe last Thursday, other than that, its been slow. I've logged 40hrs in a tree so far with only 9 sightings. October is always the slowest month down south, so I'm not discouraged yet.
You midwest boys need to start laying down the wood over the next few weeks! |
RE: Official Team 34 thread!
Still nothing here in crop land. Come monday I will be heading for the big woods for 3 weeks. That is where I usually score so good luck boys.
|
RE: Official Team 34 thread!
the deer are starting to move good now all that i have had in is 1.5 old bucks. my buddies have killed some dandys the largest grossed 185 green and another in grossed in the 150's they both grunted and snort wheezed them in. i start my vacation next week. hope its on fire here. well good luck everyone and be safe
|
RE: Official Team 34 thread!
Still nothing here. I've been seeing does but haven't seen any horn yet. I've talked to quite a few people who say the ruts kicking in so hopefully soon i'll see some bone. We got 5" of snow today with temps holding around 30 it made for a nice sit tonight. We're due to score some bone here real soon. Good luck boys!
|
RE: Official Team 34 thread!
The rut is here in my area. Tonight my buddy i was hunting with harvested a 2.5yr old 80" 7pt. One other guy who was with us also missed a buck and another missed a doe. I had a opportunity to shoot a doe fawn and passed. I'll be out after em again tomorrow. It's startin 2 pick up here. GL fellas

RE: Official Team 34 thread!
BBD!!Well I got into my stand early today, but the cows were not far behind me. I was only in my stand for about 15 mins. and the cows showed up. They hung around until about 10 after 8. Around 7:30 I did have a small buck come through well out of range and with cows under my stand he was moving through fast. Once the cows finally left it was quiet and calm and I could finally start enjoying the morning. At 8:45 I saw three deer up on the ridge, I knew the way they were headed they were going to come down and cross the creek and possible come into range. As they were moving across the ridge I could see they were three large deer but I didn't see any racks, just thought they were some big does. I herd them cross the creek and then I saw him, my first thought was hes a shooter. I took a second to take a look behind him just to see what was with him, they were (2) 1-1/2 year old bucks. So the big boy comes in picture perfect. I stopped him at 25 yards and made a good hit. He went about 100 to 125 yards. I got one lung really good and just barely hit the other one. He was just slightly quartering to me. I am truely blessed. The lord has blessed me with four great season in a row now.
![]() ![]() ![]() I scored him at 149-3/4". He would have been just over 150 if his G4 on the left wasn't broke. |
RE: Official Team 34 thread!
Il hunter awsome buck congrats. Great picks with you and your son. Sorry guys I havent been on much work has had me bogged down. I hunted a few days on and off with Rob with no success and at home with no sightings but I will beout in Illinois from the 8th to the 16th so I hope we have a little luck out there. Well Il hunter you got it started with a beautiful buck now its our tun to continue the streak..Again congrats on a nice buck.
|
RE: Official Team 34 thread!
congrats il hunter thats a dandy!!
|
RE: Official Team 34 thread!
Awesome deer! Congrats.
Things are picking up for me as well. I've been on 4 bucks the last 3 days and Im slowly closing in on them. I think today will be the day. They are using a 3 acres food plot and I've been trying to pin point exactly where they enter, I think I have it figured out now. I'll keep you guys posted! |
RE: Official Team 34 thread!
Very nice to say the least. I couldnt find our team thread it wasnt on page 2. lol. Well guys I am giving up on farm land deer as on tuesday. Time to head north to the big woods. With rifle season coming in next sat. I will be in a huge refuge closed to everything but archery. Buck die of old age in there. Wish me luck I wont be out till the snow gets deep or I whack one.
|
RE: Official Team 34 thread!
It's really heatin up here. Bucks are dropping like flys the past few days. I know of 2 absolute whoppers taken along with another decent one. One buck with a 26" spread i didn't believe it till i saw it with my own eyes. I'll be out everyday till the season ends i'm starting to close in so hopefully I can close the deal.
|
RE: Official Team 34 thread!
Very nice buck..
I am still trying to get mine. I was in the stand Saturday night and had about a 120" 4 by 4 in front of me at 15 yards, too bad I had already let my bow down to the ground. It was too dark at the time to even be able to shoot anyways. The rut is just starting up around here so hunting should be getting better and better for the next couple of weeks.. |
RE: Official Team 34 thread!
Come on guys we're always on page 2 we gota atleast keep ourselves at the tail end of page 1 lol. I didnt get bowhunting tonight i was on my way there got 1/2 mile from my house saw 32 turkeys so my mind changed i came home grabbed a gun and went after them. I ended up harvesting a 14lb hen my first turkey so im psyched for that. I'll be back out tomorrow and everyday i have left. Good luck boys we outa start droppin em soon.
|
RE: Official Team 34 thread!
I'm headed out to the stand now. The rut is spotty here I went spotting lastnight saw 1 buck chasing and 2 others searching but i also saw a few fields with as many as 8 does in them bedded down so it's just getting started here i do believe. Goodluck boys.

RE: Official Team 34 thread!
Well guys, I let the team down this morning. I had a shot and missed a buck @ 28 yards this morning.
We just had a snowstorm and I figured that it would kick the rut in to full gear, so I planned on going out this morning. Well when I woke up it was 25 degrees and we had a 20 mph wind out of the north, so I was second guessing myself, but decided to give it a try anyway. So I went to a piece of public land, didn't have a stand or ground blind, I was just planning on finding a spot to sit overlooking a small area that I thought maybe a rutting buck and doe would possibly come to. Well that is exactly what happened. At about seven, I see two deer run in and it was a nice 5x5 probably about 140-150 inches. So that got my heart pumping. Well they were hanging around for about 20 minutes and I really didn't think they would come my, way so I was trying to figure out a plan for tomorrow morning to be set up a little better. All of a sudden the doe comes running right for me a little upwind, perfect. So I am watching the doe, where she is going to come by me, figuring the buck would be right behind her. Well she turns and runs away, and the buck jumps the fence closer to me. So this all happened in a matter of about 10 seconds and I came to full draw and somehow stopped the buck in the perfect spot and let my arrow fly. I didn't see it hit, and I watched him run across the open field, hoping he would pile up. Well he didn't and I went and checked for blood, none. Found the arrow, no blood. Clean miss. I guess that is better than wounding him. Im sick to my stomach now and just keep thinking how i should be looking up taxidermists in the yellow pages right now.. Oh well, once again, thats why they call it hunting, and not shooting. I had a blast this morning, just wish I could have scored us some points.. |
RE: Official Team 34 thread!
Thats the way it goes rob bowhunting is so challenging sometimes its frustrating but when you connect its great. Don't get down on yourself. Thats how it goes hey its bowhunting. I have till the 15th here than it goes out i'm trying as hard as I can guys. I've missed 4 days outa 5 weeks so far. I have one week yet so i'm gona try my hardest. My dad was with me tonight he had a 120" 8pt within 4yd but he couldn't draw. He also saw a 150"
+ deer at dark at 150yd it didnt stick around long at all. The last week here should be great. I'll try my hardest boys. |
RE: Official Team 34 thread!
well guys i shot an 8 piont sat morning. saw 21 deer 9 diff bucks the one i shot was the biggest i had a shot on. i buck roared in 5 diff bucks to within 20 yards. its getting good here. he scored 119 6/8 i thought he was bigger. i am very happy though and dont regret shooting him at all. well good luck to everyone else.
