Jason is the corn ready to come out? Theres not much coming out here yet.
The corn is close - many fields are 'ready' now. Of course most won't start corn until they get all their beans out. If we could have avoided the rain, I think a lot of farmers would have been on corn by this weekend. If it rains this weekend (like they are predicting), we may have lost almost this entire week (with nothing coming out).

Looks like I'm going out tomorrow morning. Can't wait! Looks like it's probably going to dip into the upper30's with minimal wind-should be a good morning to be out.

Was a good hunt this morning. Had a doe and fawn come in at about 8 yards. Was a good 'wake up' for the rest of the season. They came in behind me and didn't make a noise. It wasn't until she started to go past my line of site on the left that I saw movement and noticed the doe - and at that point she was starting to get close to being down wind and seemed more on edge.

She looked away and I grabbed my bow and then a few seconds later she walked into the trees, so if it would have been a buck, I don't think I would have had a shot.

Anyone heard from Fran?

Monday morning was the last I heard from Fran. New jobs got him tied up maybe.

The neighbors wife shot an 8 point last night. As of 9 a.m. they still didn't find it. He was still on the blood 300+ yards from the shot. I'll let you guy's know how it turns out.

Sup fellas - just checking in!

I put a ton of stand-time in last week, and still haven't seen an antlered-deer. 17 does at last count. All in different areas, so it wasn't like I was hanging over the same doe family for six days straight.

I scouted some new areas, got into a bit of buck sign - but I continue to battle the lack of acorns in my hunting ranges.

The new job is a bear. Working constantly, commute is a PITA - but in this job market - I'm thankful just to have a job that pays pretty well. Y'all know the story. I'm busting my balls to try to put together a few off-days once November rolls around. Pay it forward.

Danno - big congrats on the buck bro. You were happier than a pig in new mud when you called. That's what it's all about, fellas.

Dukie? Any follow-up on today's text?

Thanks Fran. That adrenaline rush is what it is all about. It's a 3 hout drive home and I was still a little wired.

Mike is there something your not telling us....

Yes.. yes.. buck down.

Not a giant in the antler size.. but I hunt for maturity and he had it.

Typical swamp buck.. they get poor nutrition living in these giant bogs I hunt.. including him. But he's all mine and I couldn't be prouder.
