RE: The buck I was after is dead

Cooter that was a dandy buck your neighbor got, but like the saying goes "There's always somebody bigger and badder out there" that will be the one you'll get.
Rammer I know the feeling, I've been eating tag soup for too many years now. Themdeer you have there would do just fine. Good luck with them.
Well I hunted Wed. morning and evening, and then again this morning, nothing. I kicked one up on the way in this morning. I've sat six stands so far and have yet to see a deer. (excuse here) I'm blaming the full moon and heat, I'm seeing plenty of fresh sign, so I know they are around. Come on cooler weather.
Hey just a reminder eveyone be safe out there! A guy I know who lives on the next street over from mine fell out of his stand last week. Broke three vertebres in his neck, he had surgery on Friday. I heard he was able to take some steps today. Very lucky.

WOW, lucky indeed. I don't get guys who climb trees without a harness. I mean, if falling from the top of the sears tower and falling from 20 feet up can both result in the same thing, why would you think safety on the towerbut not on the tree?

Rammer, great pics! I love the height on the second buck. It looks like the tips almost touch in the front.

Good luck this weekend Cooter. Hopefully you can get the big brother of your neighbors buck!

I'm staying home this weekend. We have family coming to visit unfortunately. (I know, turn in your man card). I'm trying to keep the peace and giving up this weekend so that I can be gone most of October.

Good luck to everybody else.
Red - The main beams do almost touch on that buck. That buck is on my brothers wifes land, and she just got her first deer tag ever this year. She is going to be really upset when I stick it with an arrow before she gets a chance to shoot it with a rifle! haha That is the buck I am focusing on right now, I put a treestand up near his bedding area, and I have a ladder stand on the "deer hightway" coming out of my brothers corn field. I watched him for about a half hour this evening thru my spotting scope.

Here's a photo of a head on view of that buck, its kinda blurry, he musta been moving his head at the time of the pic:

We can't go 10 for 10 with broken bones while laying in a hospital bed.

Hoytail have you seen any of them Wisconsin monsters yet? I sure wish the temps. would drop about 20 degrees.
Well good luck to anyone hunting tomorrow, and lets not be afraid of being the one who gets us on the board first.

I haven't but bowhuntingfool(joe b) of hni who also hunts the same area I do says he seen a monster 8. As for me, all I seen were3 does total. One on a sit and the other 2I was enroute to my stand when I saw them at 2:30 eating acorns at 80yds. I stalked to about 50 when they decided they were done. They cut across me at 44 yards but I wasn't going to take a shot that far.

Yep, mid to high 70's all week too. Kinda depressing especially since I didn't get to hunt over the weekend.
