Hey Zeb, thats a pretty sweet collection of pictures on the Monte overhaul! Nice color choice on the block ;)

How's she run? 12:1 compression...you must not be able to run her on pump gas?

RuttNutt 08-26-2008 06:56 PM

RE: Offical Team 27 Thread

I got to add a little octane to her but she runs pretty good:DIt turns 7000rpm real quick!!!

RE: Offical Team 27 Thread

Went out spotting last night and saw 7 bucks. 2 six pts, 2 fork horns, 2 spikes, and a really nice 8 point that i was chasing around last year.He was probably 16 inches wide, 3-4 inch brows, and 8-9 inch G-2's. Man that got me pumped for the season.

Thats great Ray! Was the big 8 on land that you will be able to hunt? NOt much going on with me. Got all my stands up, and my camera up. Other then that, just been shooting the bow alot.

MEhuntalot 08-27-2008 02:06 PM

RE: Offical Team 27 Thread

I've been shooting quite a bit too...I have a problem with my sight, my top pin is a tritium which has a little cell on the back of it...well I cant get my next pin close enough to the top one because of the cell...so I need to get a new pin (the damn tritium is too fat anyway!)

Other then that I just need to put a fresh biscuit on for the season and let the slay begin!

Same here BigDaddy...been shootin a lot...just went out and saw 2 smaller bucks but yesterday I sure got close to the 5x5....i got a good stand set up so well see how it goes.

BigDaddy12t 08-27-2008 04:24 PM

RE: Offical Team 27 Thread

Well, good luck on connecting on the big 5x5 Ray! Man the 13th just cant come soon enough. I wish my 12 acres was set up so I could scout it from a distance, but it is completely surrounded by river and someone elses land. Well, jst got home from work, now it is time to have something to eat, and then go do some shooting. So how many arrows does everyone shoot each practice session?

My names Patrick:D;)But thank you....I sure Hope I connect with him too!

But umm I practice all through out the day when Im here. I can take the screens out of the upstairs windows and shoot to a target I have that I can move from 0 to 60 yards and practice treestand shots. I take 4 shots and when I feel like gettin them I go back up and take four more. And then a lot of the time I just go outside and shoot.

Yep the big 8 is on the land i can hunt.:DThere are a couple more bucks back in where i hunt that are at least that size but are in such a place where the only way i will see them is if they make a mistake during the rut. Good luck on the 5x5 Patrick!!

RE: Offical Team 27 Thread

Well, I just got done shooting my bow, about 50 arrows. Man I am so bad at judging yardage.:eek:I always thought that my average shots on deer was around 20 yards. But now after shooting in my backyard, I realized that most of my shots are moe like 15 yards or less. Oh well, 10,15,or 20, I am good for all of them. I dont have the room to shoot more than 20 yards, the way it is, at 20 yards, I am standing in my neighbors backyard.[8D]

I haven't had a chance to scout that much in the last couple weeks, I've come down with a very bad summer cold/sinus and earinfection. I'm on antibiotics so hopefully it will clear this darn thing up soon.......summer colds suck!!![:'(][:'(]

It should be a good year though, I have lots of places to hunt...probably more places than time but I've seen nice deer at all the lands I hunt.

That sucks BigJ...man I hate hunting when I feel like crap!

I usually shoot 30-50 arrows per practice round...usually 10 arrows past when I start to get shaky

9 days till my opener...man I hate to say it for the sake of this contest, but I have my eye on a nice buck still in velvet! I've always wanted to get one sporting the softies ;)

BigDaddy12t 08-28-2008 04:14 PM

RE: Offical Team 27 Thread

I agree Dana, I have always wanted to harvest a buck still in velvet. I dont know if you guys saw my post an the regular bowhunting board aboutr holding still, but I shot my bow today at lunch, and I was all over the target at 15 yards.[:@]I shot lastnight at my 3D buck, and I shot great, so I dont know if I was just tired today or what.
Hope you get over your cold BigJ!!! Beiing sick sucks.[:'(]

Hey, don't worry about the contest.....kill what you want, don't matter if it's big or small do what makes you feel good. If it's a velvet buck you want and you get the chance, let that arrow go!

I always shoot at what strikes my fancy at the moment of truth. Sometimes I've passed on nice bucks because I've had my eye on a slammer, other times I've shot smaller bucks. I pretty much limit myself to 8-points or more and let the smaller ones pass but I've shot smaller bucks in the past and who knows what the future holds.

I might add that just because a buck is an 8-point or bigger doesn't mean it's a slammer either. A couple years ago I saw a small basket 10 point (probably about 100in) come close and I was ready and willing to put an arrow through him when he just wandered off in the wrong direction.[:@]Point being even though he most likely would have grown to be an absolute slammer his rack was so perfectly shaped I would have been happy to take him right then and there.

Shoot what you want, contest or no contest and be happy whether you hold out for P&Y deer or shoot the first spike down the pike, have fun....it's a pastime and a recreation....it SHOULD be fun!

That being said I hope everyone shoots a P&Y slammer and we clean everyone's clock this year!!:)

Cripes! If I saw a 100"er I'd about soil my pants ;). No, they are here but hard to come by! I wont take anything small by my standards until late November (unless its a slickhead)

RE: Offical Team 27 Thread

Yea I know....it wuld be cool to befirst to put a biggin down in the contest!

One thing that is really gonna help is that since it is a blacktail the score gets multiplied by 1.39....so if he scores 125....we get 125x1.39=173.75!

that would be one heck of a help! but im not good at guessing score but i hope hed go 125"

Any bucks yet??

Bullet Hole Bailey 08-31-2008 06:14 PM

RE: Offical Team 27 Thread

Seen bucks and have had plenty of oppurtunities on a good actaully real good 6 point and an oversized4 point but I know I would not be satisfied as my 08 hunting season would be over completely and I would know that If i woulda hung in thereI can get a bigger one so Im gonna stick it out and hopefully stick the biggun within the next couple days...

crazedbowhunter 08-31-2008 06:37 PM

RE: Offical Team 27 Thread

Hope you get the big one;) On another note, went spotting last night and saw a bachelor group of 8 bucks, a 6 being the smallest and an 8 point with a 16" spread or so with a good bit of mass being the "mid-sized" buck!! There were 2 monsters in the rear that i couldnt make out just how many points they had, but the points that i could see were loooong.:DToo bad they are coming out of the middle of a cornfield at last light and there is no cover nearby to set up in to wait for them. Guess i am gonna have to wait till they take the corn off so they will move into the woods.
