There's a huge stand of white oaks close to my stand, and I'm perched on a travel route to them.
Now that's a recipe for success if I ever saw one.

I know. It sounds pretty sweet, but like so many have said; it's hunting. I may go out and just see squirrels.

I said last night that I wouldn't be back on until Sunday afternoon. I forgot about all day at work today. I don't like to go on here much at work, but the last couple of days before an actual hunt, I just can't help it.

I'll be in a tree tomorrow.
I have to shoot a doe first. Let's hope that's on the slate in the morning.
Good luck Johnny.

Well, I got zip on the doe Saturday.
I didn't see a thing in the morning. In the afternoon, I got busted by a mature doe
leading the pack.
She must have seen my fletching as I took my bow off the hook.
This particular stand is in a cluster of 3 pine trees. There is NO WAY see saw me move.
Not to mention they were 60 yards away.
My arrows have white wraps and white predator vanes. That had to be it.

Now, do I move the stand? There are only marginal cover trees in the area.
These pines are the perfect cover IMO. What a bummer. I had a good feeling
about that stand.

I wouldn't move the stand yet. I not only got busted, but I got triple busted last Sunday on my club land behind the house. I got busted climbing the ladder in the dark, then again when they got down wind of me in the dark, and then again when I stood up at around 8:00 and didn't know there were deer 30 yards from me. This-afternoon in that same ladder stand, I had another shot at a big ol' momma doe at 10 yards. It was 6:55, and I didn't draw. I'm still tired after the doe tracking episode last night and the resulting butchering today. She got a free pass. Next time though, when I'm better rested, I'm letting the air out of her.

Lucky for her this time. LOL!!!
I'll let that stand rest a few days.
I have 4 other stands up and my climber for a couple other spots. I'll hit those for a while and go back to the pine stand.
I should be able to dance a jig in there it's got so much cover.

I agree, I wouldn't move a stand just for being busted once, even twice.Keep after 'em guys. I'm twiddlin' my thumbs waiting to go to KS. Been shootin' goodduring back yard practice sessions.
Had some elk steaks for supper tonight. Pretty good if I don't say so myself. Also hadto try the sausage sticks that I had made, and they won't last long.
When's everyone want to come over for supper?Just me and my wife, and a freezer full of meat!!
