Got in the woods again yesterday evening...nothing. It was quiet the whole time. Oh well. I'm taking today off and then hitting it hard on Friday evening, Saturday morning and evening, and probably Sunday.

Finally got the permission I have been waiting on! I'm going to have probably only one chance to go and scout, and that will probably be to find at least one tree to hunt from. With only 11 days till the opener, I don't really want to go tromping around the whole property. I've never even seen it yet, so who knows what it holds. It is in a good area, with water/cover from what the landowner says, so we'll see. Did up my arrows last night, look real purty! Good luck to you guys this weekend!

Mike, I think next year you need a good ole South Carolina boy to help you hunt all that Illini property! I was up in Schyuler Co. last fall and it is some pretty country. It was quite the feeling knowing that "the one" could step out at any time. Good luck with your scouting.

It's supposed to get down to about 58 degrees tonight. I can't remember the last time it has been that cool in September down here. We shall see!!

well....its doe only here in my section of PA......and it is hard letting bucks walk by. Filmed my friend shooting a nice doe that came in with a buck still in full velvet (most are hard here). Then i went out and got busted by a freaking cow of a doe.....going out again tomorrow evening....hope to get a doe.

I took my cousin to my farm on Saturday to try and get him his first deer. He had the green light to shoot whatever he wanted. He had a spike at 20-25 yards and didn't shoot! [:@] He said he didn't feel comfortable with the range. I told him if he had been practicing all summer like I told him too he would have felt good about the shot!! Oh well, the season is young. I saw 11 out of that same stand last night. They came to the beans just a little too late for a good shot.

Dave, I'd give the guy/kid props for not taking the shot if he wasn't 100% sure.
A lot of people get caught up in the moment and sling arrows when they shouldn't.

I got out for the first time in MD on Sat. Saw a couple deer in the bean fields, but nothing but a fox came by my stand all day.
Four more days until we head out to Ohio for the opener.

Don't worry Mike, that's what I told him. I told him exactly where the deer would come from, and they did. We have landscaping markers at 20, 30, and 40 yards in the beans for reference. I'm glad he didn't shoot if he didn't feel right about it. I told him that the cousin in me HAD to give him grief about not shooting, but the sportsman in me is glad that he did not shoot if he didn't feel "right" about the shot.
