RE: Official Team Ribcage Rampage Thread (20)
I've been scouting a couple big buck areas the last couple of days.I'm so deep in the woods it's crazy.I'll need a helicopter to get one out of there.I found a couple of nice funnels in there last year while still hunting. It is super thick with rubs and scrapes already going down.So if the little boys are using my funnel already it should look pretty good around the end of Oct. and early Nov..The rubs and scrapes had nothing to do with picking this spot, they are just a bonus.

As long as you get pics of you and him with your bow, we don't care how you get him out of there.:DGood luck in the big woods.
I am planning on hunting the farm where I got my doe tomorrow after work. Some of the corn has been picked. I am gonna set up on the picked area and see what comes out. A mini cold front is coming thru tonight and a little cooler tomorrow. The farmer told me he saw a big buck when he was picking the corn last week. So it sounds like there is a target in the neighborhood. |

Well fellas, I'm headin out next week Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for my much anticipated draw hunt here in Oklahoma. It's traditional archery equipment only. I've been practicing religiously with my recurve over the last few months. I'm drilling 'em in there out to 25 yards. This will be the second time I've drawn this hunt and let me tell you, there are some real monsters roaming this place. Check out the website. http://www.mcaapcontrolledhunts.com/ and take a look at the "Most Wanted"list. These deer are still on the place, the phantom fourteen hasn't been photographed, but a couple of the biologists have seen him.
These aren't pen raised deer in some high fence setting. These are wild free rangingdeer here in Oklahoma. It's pretty amazing what real potential is out there when you manage the property. They don't let any rifle hunting, muzzleloader hunting, or compound bow hunting on the property. You have to put in for the draw and be selected to participate. Every year several Pope & Young bucks are taken during this hunt, hopefully this year will be my turn;). |

Looks like a great opportunity there Chris. Best of luck to ya out there.
I will be sweating it out tomorrow at my place in IL. It's supposed to be 80*+ but I just gotta hunt to see what's out there. I have a couple of spots that the predicted SE wind is perfect for. I'll be out there early and late and under the shade tree taking a nap in the middle.:D |
