RE: Official team 19 hang out...
Sorry i haven't checked in for a while now. Been out in the woods everyday almost. This whole not working thing is awesome! This morning i got in my stand at around 6:00 am and didn't see a thing for about four hours and then like a frickin freight train seven does stand up and exit this big pile of fallen trees that are literally 50 yards to my left. They came right in front of me and stopped. I picked the biggest one and sent an arrow her way, but she ducked and it went right over back.[:@] First time i have ever had that happen. The good news is that i think i finally patterned the big buck that i was telling you guy's about and i even found a nice rubline on his route that i am going to setup on next week.

RE: Official team 19 hang out...
Went out tonight and within minutes of being in the stand, I heard a deer bleating. Figured it was a youngun that got separated from the doe. Then I got the usual trash talking text message from PT. @ 5:45, a doe, youngun, & a button buck crossed from the other side of the ravine and started browsing towards me. The doe was huge and the offspring was big enough to make on its own, so I got ready to do a little nanny whacking. She was just a few feet away from my shooting lane and 16 yards out. Her head came out and then her neck. Then she turned and started browsing back the way she came.[:'(] I had a clean shot at the button buck but passed 'cause I didn't want to only put 1 1/2 points towards our team standings. They crossed the creek to the other side again and all got quiet. At 6:45, 3 does and a small 5 pointer came up behind my stand. They started browsing on the acorns. All of a sudden the buck looked to the other side of the creek and stampeded out of there. The does looked over their shoulders and went back to browsing. I watched hard as the light was failing and here came a great big 9 or 10 point buck! I drew back and watched him walk towards the shooting lane. As he got about 10 feet out, he brought his head up and looked straight at the direction the little buck took off in. He snorted once and shot after him. It sounded like a freight train going through a glass factory for a few seconds and all went quiet. I sat up there until dark and then made my way out through the meadow. The closest I've had a buck to me all season and no shot.

My trip into the woods last eveningproduced a doe for my partner DaveH (team 6). We were both buck hunting but the pressure from his wife about having no meat wasenough to change his mind about buck hunting. I made the decission to shoot a doe and make it a double after he told me he had a doe down. At 6:30 two does come ambling along but the shot was 43 yards in fading light. Was afraid of an unseen brance at that distance in the fading like so I issued another pass. That's it till next Fri Evening and all day Sat.

Hey fellas sorry haven't posted all week been out west trying to kill something didn't work out to well!!! Sat in some really good spots just ver little deer movement with acres upon acres of corn still standing in the fields. Did manage to shoot a doe on thursday( sorry no pics). Here is a pic though of the deer that I was hoping to see all week but never could get him to come out during shooting hours!!! going to head out west again in November hopefully the rut will have this big boy moving around a little more!!! haven't seen if we have made the score board yet or not but hopefully the rest of you are having better luck in the woods than I did this week. My older brother missed a 6x6 Mulie this weekend said he woulda gone about 190!!!! He missed him at 20yrds!!! Shoulda spent more time sighting in his bow and not running his mouth!!!

Wow! that's one old buck if the pic was taken in 1941! Good Luck Gerry! Still early in the season and they opened early muzzleloading so the woods are ablaze with smoke n firing. I'm gonna hang low for a few days until this rain passes through and the guns quiet down.

Sounds like ya'll are getting pretty close.....Some good hunts there.
Well, I had a pretty rotten weekend. Saturday it hit 92*. I sat over a water hole, nothing. I saw one damn doe all weekend, and that was yesterday morning right at daybreak. I did, however.....manage no less than 200 chiggers! [:@] I'm about to OD on Benadryl.......oh my god I itch....
Finally supposed to cool off later this week. Highs in the 60's by Thursday. Much better.

Congrats on the doe there Palmer. Also nice looking deer Finner. Lots posted here in just the 3 days I missed checking in. Oh and AF the thermacell is the best hunting purchase I ever made. Had mine going most of the weekend.
Well much like MO it was HOT here. I sat Friday and Saturday nights and Saturday and Sunday mornings. NOTHING to shoot. Had a small one walk right under my stand about 5 minutes before shooting light on Saturday. On Friday I had 2 button bucks come by. They came from my right and went the wrong way. I was sure I would get busted. They went straight down wind of me and never cared. I had that thermacell cranking away and I thought that would be a good test. They went past me and circled around behind me to the hay field. They continued to eat there for the last 40 minutes of light. They did finally move away so I was able to sneek down without getting busted. Nothing else. Won't be going out now until the 24th. Then I will be out lots because my boy comes home the 28th and we are out on the 29th.
