Verification

I think all photos entered should contain a copy of the daily newpaper.

Seems like a good idea in theory but may be kind of hard to enforce. The last thing on my mind after shooting a deer is going to the corner store to buy a newspaper.

How would that help??

How would that help??
Those with multiple tags or states not entering their first buck, or holding out and entering it much later than when they shot it incase they shot a bigger buck.

Just seems far fetched to implement and enforce.

x2

For example, if a deer is shot 2 days before the season starts, you could still pose it with a paper 2 days later. Or if a deer is shot after the season, an old paper could be used.

I immediately thought of an old mining company here that tried that for dating claims that they staked. Didn't work; went to court and the judge
raked them over the coals for trying to be fraudulent.

Wouldn't matter. If someone is low enough to cheat I'm sure they would just crop a news paper in the pic.

RE: Verification

I think we should go on the honour system. I have no reason to cheat and I don't think anyone else does either........ we don't win anything. And we all know what happens when you cheat....... eyeball hanging out......... DANG........ its a definite rifle kill. IMHO

I'll tell you right now....... my first kill is gonna be a doe. Not scorable!! I need to fill the freezer

HuntingEd 08-17-2008 06:43 PM

RE: Verification

Not to mention you'd not be able to read the paper, if the whole deer is in the pic too..

It is a great idea! But most are field photo's. I know many of ya'll carry enough crap in the woods, that a daily newspaper would be no big thing :D. But some of us travel light!

RE: Verification

Hopefully it's unnecessary, police yourselves and just be honest. Cheaters never win and true winners never cheat.

If anyone has done it in the past contests, shame on you and I hope your conscience eats at you. ;) ;)

RE: Verification

I can tell you that I hunt more than40 miles from the nearest newspaper. My check in station is 10 miles from my hunting grounds. No way am I traveling an additional30 miles to get a newspaper and30 miles back.

Although at times, many individuals of HNI act childish...I think we can all act like adults on this issue.

I would quit.

Isn't this supposed to be a fun contest?

If people are going to cheat, they're only cheating themselves and they're likely to get busted.

Last year that dude got caught. It was stupid of him anyway. If you need to cheat in a just for fun contest you need help.

AF Hunter 08-17-2008 09:29 PM

RE: Verification

Holy Crap! Who would cheat for bragging rights? That's insane!!! Then by the time I get close enough to read the local newspaper (which comes out once a week) you wouldn't be able to see the deer. Then to top that off, since the paper comes out on Wednesday, I can only kill on that day?
Anyone who would do that, would be lower than whale crap...and that's on the bottom of the ocean!
I don't think anyone on here would sink that low.

Hoytail Hunter 08-19-2008 05:24 PM

RE: Verification

I think you should have to get a notorized letter confirming your kill and score of course date and time stamped. :D:D

Seriously, when I entered the contest, this was a concern of mine and I even PM'd Rob about it suggesting a pic be requiredof the legible registration tag. He told me not to fret about it and i realized I was doing just that.

If you have to cheat for net cred then you're just a _ _ _ _ _.

And even if you do get away with it, it's still not enough to beat my yet to be determined team. Go ahead cheat, see if it helps.
