Well guys... lets hear about your openers

I got a little rain in the early am, then the cold front roared through like a freight train... wind was crazy.. only stayed till 1030...

Hit a different farm in the eve, couldnt ask for better weather on the opener, usually its much warmer... had plenty of activity saw 4 bucks and a bunch of does.. passed up the deer in the pic.. he's still in full velvet.. but only a 1.5 yr old... hes one that needs to live! probably bout 100-110" was hopin for one of the big ones to show...but they didnt... I'll be out friday and sat...

Good news guys, went out scouting tonight and saw the deer I'm after this season. He is a monster 10 with about 8-10inch G2's. I saw him in the fields walking right towards one of my stands. Hopefully he'll stick around 2 more weeks!!

Weather was great but the deer were not where I was. I did see a doe and fawn but I couldn't get a good shot so I let them walk. I really thought I would be seeing more. I also went out Saturday night on a stand that has produced deer for me the last 2 years on opening evening. I was really hoping. Well with about 20 minutes left I see a nice doe with her head down. I just need her to walk behind the tree so I can draw and then into my shooting lane. All of a sudden HE looks up and has 1.5 to 2 inch spikes on his head. Well I am not shooting that so I let him go. NOTHING else came by. I just couldn't believe it.

Sunday morning was slow as I only saw one button buck. Going out Friday afternoon until Sunday again. Hope it is not too hot this time. Sounds like it will be warm.

Here is a picture off my trail camera. I really need to get a doe or 2. With unlimited tags the past few years I didn't expect to see anything like these. Now I just have to find them out in the daylight. All pictures so far are at night.

Stil waiting on opener here. I did get permission on 2 new locations that are gonna be very very good this year. I also stopped by James Valley Scents this afternoon on my way home with my semi and got myself $50 of scent to play with. As soon as it quits raining I will be going out and hanging new stands in the new spots.

I am so excited to get out tomorrow. It is going to be in the mid 80's but I just don't care. I have to get a doe first so I will be out looking for a baldy.
