Well fellas the temps have dropped and i finally got out this morning for a normal hunt. Saw a total of 18 deer! 5 bucks, the biggest was a 2 1/2 year nine point. Passed on the bucks and put a fat doe on the ground! It was a steep 15 yard quartering awayshot so i out the pin about 4 inches below the spine and a bit back and got a nice double lung. She went about 35 yards and crashed down a hill and got back up and ran for75 yardsbefore piling up. Tough deer. Backstraps for dinner!

No hunting in CT on Sundays, so I went fishing out in the Long Island Sound, with a couple buddies! They each caught one Bonita tuna, at the same time!! It was great just to watch the double! One was 6#, and the other was 7#! Them little buggers have some fight in them! Took about 15 minutes to land them both!! I had one on a little later, but it straightened out my hook! A great day out on the sound! The tuna were everywhere!!

Congrats on the doe.

I'm finally seeing some deer as well. Saw 5 doe on Saturday night. Was watching a coyote come into my stand and never saw the 3 doe come in beside me. Needless to say, that was one meeting that didn't go over well. I was getting ready to draw when I heard the first deer blow. 3 deer took off and the yote in pursuit. Shortly after I saw turkey flying out of the field as well. Pretty exciting evening to say the least.

Saturday was the southern tier of NY opener. It was an enjoyable morning afield turkeys and deer were abundent I wasnt able to get a shot at any quarry on Sat but Sunday morning was another story. I had a mature doe at 28 yrds slightly quartering away. I was able to go through the liver and one lung passed through the opposite shoulder. She went about 125 yards on pure adrenilin time of death 0747 hrs on 10/14/07. I tried geeeting the pic up but it was giving me a problem ?

So whats everybody setting up on right now? They are still killing the acorns here so I am hunting a 20 ft ladder nestled in an oak grove funnel. I have been seeing lots of deer each time out just not any mature bucks. I have vacation on the week of Oct 29 so i plan on hitting some of my hotspot hang ons. I've never been much of a fan of ladder stands but i really like the big game skybox model. The only bad thing i have found is that i like to stand and when you stand it puts you out from the tree......which makes it easier for the deer to skyline you. I solved the problem by standing on the seat.
