click to upload picture.. then after uploading click on embed pic. in post. picture needs to be smaller usually so you'll have to resize. Try 400x300 in pixels. This will usually work the best. Hope this helps. |
RE: 13-Official Team 13 Thread
GGNY - big congrats buddy. You definitely paid your dues, and you deserved to fill that tag. I'm happy 4 ya man. If I were you, I'd upload the photos to photobucket.com, and then post them using the photobucket url. It's fairly easy, but you might have to tinker with it a little bit.
I just got home from 5 days at deer camp. Went up on Saturday, season opened Monday. My buddy wound up killing a beast 4x5 from one of my funnel standsat noon on the opener. He was happier than a pig in mud. I've never seen a deer with antlers quite like it - palmated from base to tip on both sides, huge mass measurements. Really neat rack, with a drop on the right. He had gangrene all through his neck, and he probably had 2 dozen holes punched in the hide around/behind the ears. He had acouple points snapped off, and both ears were torn up and split. He was a brawler for sure. 1.2 mile drag out, and that wasn't fun at all. Thank god for deer carts, of his cape would have been dragged bald by the time we got it out. It was a monsoon all day Monday, 35 degrees and genuinely miserable in every possible way. My clothes were so wet that they didn't dry overnight, so I got the joy of wearing cold, wet clothes on Tuesday. Camp is nice, but it doesn't have a laundry dryer... Unfortunately. I only had a doe tag left, so I just put on the safety glassesand work gloves and ran clearcuts and dragged deerfor 3 straight days.I didput out a decent six pointer that one of the guys killed. Also jumped acouple un-i.d.'ed deerand 2 coyotes, but both of the dogs were too far out ahead of me to pick up. I saw a few doe, but the herd up there is pretty thin - so they were in no danger. I was really hoping tolevel the .300 ona couple coyotes, but no dice. Unfortunately, I think my cell phone is now laying somewhere in the Allegheny National Forest, and I suspect that there's a porcupine dialing 1-900 numbers on it as we speak. So that sucks. I can't function without my cell phone. I'm praying that it turns up when I do laundry tonight. If not, I'm hosed. Guys, I'm worn out. I dragged 4 deer, hung and pulled stands, walked about 30 miles, swam through too many thick tangles to even count, and came dangerously close to a bad scenario with a hostileporcupine. I figure in one month, there should be sheds on the ground. Time to recharge the batteries. |

Heres the link to the photobucket account that i just made, official score at 106 5/8! Not a real spactacular story. Seen a few does eairly, plenty of squirrels. Next thing i know i hear some steady crunching footprints commin from the east. The big boy marches in to 32.5 yards and i let him have it. Double lungger and he runs only about 60 yards and drops. And just like that, end of season! |
RE: 13-Official Team 13 Thread
Congrats! I'd be perfectly happy with a buck like that. Unfortunately I have only seen one earlier in the season and I suspect he bought the farm during MZ season, because I haven't seen him since.
I'll keep looking I've got 5 more weeks in the season, I expect to hunt at least 10 more times by then, I should be able to put some bone on the board though I doubt he'll look as good as yours. Nice deer GG. |

RE: 13-Official Team 13 Thread
Mcouey - you can win it for us man. One shot bro, and it's LIGHTS OUTfor the competition. The Dark Horses will have shocked the HNI world.Nothing greases my wheels like proving people wrong...
Nobody gave us a shot when this thing started. Nobody...except forthe ten guys on this team. ***Cue Music*** Look, if you had one shot, one opportunity to seize everything you ever wanted... One moment.... Would you capture it or just let it slip away? You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow... This opportunity comes once in a lifetime. |

LMAO Duke.
Dude, that's one of my favorite movies...and that song is Track #4 on one of my favorite "hunting" cd's. I rocked it the whole way down Interstate 70 this fall - 3:45 a.m., cranked up on Mountain Dew and McGriddles. Marshall Mathers wishes he hadvocalskills like this. [8D] |

RE: 13-Official Team 13 Thread
GobblegetterNY- Nice buck!! It looks like you may have short changed yourself on the score. You should get 4 circumference measurements oneach main beam regardless of how many points per side (a spike also gets 4 measurements). We need all the points we can get in case it is close at the end.
Mcouey- Keep at em', we know you haven't given up. You'll get him. Good Luck. And lets not forget Bamahuntin. Keep posting and let us know how your doing, Shoot straight. Good Luck. |

|
RE: 13-Official Team 13 Thread
Germ - I kinda like his "Sing for the Moment" adaptation... Since you're into the local music scene, I'd guess you're an Insane Clown Posse fan too? Don't lie man, I know you've got The Great Milenko tucked away in your cd holder on your sun visor under the Fire Lloyd Carr petitions. [&:]
I went to one of their concerts one time in college - just one of those experiences that I couldn't pass up... That's a story for another time though... ICP and Gwar on the Hallowicked Tour. LMAO Wow, that thought just dredged up a whole lot of childhood memories. |
RE: 13-Official Team 13 Thread
Kid Rock;) I respect all guys who pimp slap Tommy Lee:D
I went to a Color me bad concert in college[:'(] The band opening had a hot lead singer. We where in the first row with dates, I was the wing man. I acted like a complete nut to the lead singer girl. I got up on stage with her, got invited backstage, went to a party. I left Kevin hanging, called him next morning to pick me up. Man was that fun, Kevin said he would have done the same thing:D Only concert I ever went too:( |
RE: 13-Official Team 13 Thread
Dude... That's legendary.
I definitely wanna hear more about partying with Color Me Badd. I love brush with fame stories. Buttonbuckmaster has a great story involving John Goodman and a haymaker. |

Nice Buck Capitan!
Bad News! I shot my Biggest Bow Buck ever this morning guys. He was alittle over 20 yards broad side.I dont know what happend but something went wrong. We just found small drops of blood here and there for about a 100 yards or so.I think i hit him in the brisket or the lower neck.Im just sick im going to keep looking and hunting thats all i know to do. Here is 1 of his Rubs. ![]() |
RE: 13-Official Team 13 Thread
Wow! What a rub!
Blue... tell some details. Did you see the arrow hit? What was the deers reaction after the hit? Did the deer bed down? I've seen alot of brisket shot deer and they tend to bleed heavily. The deer tends to just continue on its journey, sometimes almost undisturbed. I hope you find him... look hard in the morning. Wish I could help! |
RE: 13-Official Team 13 Thread
That's a heck of a rub. I agree with Duke. Deer that I've seen shot in the brisket can bleed a lot. Did you find the arrow? Did it break off, was it a complete pass through, was it covered in blood or just partially covered, when he was hit did his tail go up or did he put it down between his legs...
The deer I shot this year - I hit a little far back and there was hardly ANY blood trail. But the arrow was totally covered in blood so I gave him about 7 hours and pretty much just followed the fenceline I last saw him walking and walked right up to him not more than a couple of hundred yards from where I last saw him. Filled pretty much my last tag tonight... Bitter sweet because he's a great deer but it would have been fun to see what he looked like next year :D Pretty sure I posted a trail cam pic of this guy earlier... ![]() ![]() ![]() |
RE: 13-Official Team 13 Thread
I could not sleep last night guys.I couldnt make
it back today to look for him.I don't know what went wrong.Clear shot at 20 yards and i screwed it up! His back half from about were his flank is was behind a tree.About like the rub in the pic. When i shot him my arrow stuck in the ground. The buck ran fastback the way he came. For about 40 yards and then befour he was out of sight he slowed down alot. There was very little blood on my arrow.Almost all the hair was brown on the arrow. From his spoty blood trail the buck more less circled me after the shot. His tail was down when he ran.In a few spots there would be 3or4 leaves covered in blood. But he never layed down.I gave him a hour 1/2 after the shot. I don't know were i hit him.But im almost certain i hit him 2 far foward. |
RE: 13-Official Team 13 Thread
Blue: Tough break man. Sounds like a whale of a buck. Keep your head up and keep plugging away at it. Get out there and grid search the area until you're 100% confident that the deer survived.
Jason: Awesome buck dude. I see u were growing the playoff beard, eh? Take it easy guys. Good luck to our hunters! |
RE: 13-Official Team 13 Thread
Blue.. that hurts man. But trust me get back out and look hard. If you don't find him.. no worries.. get back in your stand and hunt. And hunt hard!
SouthDakota... congrats again man. Another good one... nice! |
RE: 13-Official Team 13 Thread
Nice buck SD congrats.
Blue - From what you discribed the buck ismost likely dead. You alway's don't get a ton of blood. The birds should let you know where he is at. Good luck get r done. |
RE: 13-Official Team 13 Thread
Blueranger,
Good luck finding that buck bud, this is all for fun so I am hoping to click on here and see that our Team 29 is down 100" and that you found him. I know that sunk feeling but I also know how it can turn around as well. Keep at it! |
RE: 13-Official Team 13 Thread
Blue - based in the fact that there wasn't much blood on the arrow and he circled around like that - my guess would be that it's a flesh wound and he's still out there running around... I did the same thing once - 'muffed' a 20 yards shot at a monster - I accidentialy held my last pin on the deer instead of the first pin - I believe I just skimmed his back (probably just missed his spine) - only had blood on one of the flecth's and very very little on the shaft. Ironically, he also circled around. Looked for him for 2 days - ended up seeing him a month later with some does...
Quick – About the beard/goatee - I am a bit superstitious (think it’s an old baseball thing)… After I had such good luck on my elk hunt I told the wife that I wasn’t going to shave or trim until I got my archery deer (or rifle season opened), which she wasn’t to thrilled with.:D But I wasn’t seeing anything – feeling desperate to switch things up I did some minor trimming and got my archery deer the next day. Ironically, I also did a minor trim on Thursday night – the night before I got my buck. So guys - I would suggest shaving if you haven’t been or growing some scrub if you’ve been shaving – whatever you doing – switch something up… ;) |
RE: 13-Official Team 13 Thread
Thanks for the Support Guys!
I have a couple of game cameras out in the area nowso maybe i will get his pic.It was a new spotfirst time in the stand. |
RE: 13-Official Team 13 Thread
BR - Funny how those first-time stand sites work, isn't it? More and more, I'm trying tohunt as many "first time" stand sites as my schedule allows. Duke, your buck came out of a virgin stand, right?
Jason - I'm superstitious with clothing- always swapping between "lucky hats." Maybe flip a shirt inside-out, or try a different pair of gloves. LOL 130's right - the scavengers will let you know if there's a foodsource in the area. Around here, any dead deer will draw in hordes of buzzards, so keep your eyes open. If you can get a little snow, take a walk and look for coon/dog/opossum activity. They might lead you to it. We're all pulling for ya, buddy. |
RE: 13-Official Team 13 Thread
Ya Quick. Mine was a very virgin stand. Just hung it 2 1/2 hours prior to the sit. I've never been afraid to just get up and move. Over the past several years I've killed over half of my best bucks from stands I either sat for the first or second times. Lone Wolf baby! Love em'!

RE: 13-Official Team 13 Thread
Whatsup homies? Just got these pics the other day - figured I'd post them here for y'all to check out.
This is the buck that my buddy shot at 11:30 a.m. in a total downpour on the PA rifle opener from one of my best stands. Massive 4x5 with a small drop tine coming off the right side. His right G2 and G3 were broken. Antlers were palmated from base-to-tip. Really unique rack. These were taken with his camera phone, so they're not the greatest. You can still get a decent picture of how massive this guy was. In the top picture, you can see the white, oozing hole at the base of his left ear. I put my finger down in it - it was a solid 1.5" deep. His ears were pretty split up too. ![]() ![]() |
