Just entered my buck. He grossed 162 4/8. I'll take it.

Although I hope not, he may be my buck of a lifetime unless I somehow get lucky enough to have the cash togo with a outfitter someday. But in the mean time I will keep thinking everytime I get in the tree "this is the day I shoot a monster". lol

Don't hate me!!

Well I finally got my archery buck, but in all the excitement I took my pictures without my bow in it. Don't ask me what I was thinking because that morning was crazy (journal entry coming soon). I hadn't scored him yet, but I would guess around 115 maybe 120.

Sorry we can't use him in the contest.

Nice buck Ryanaller congrats.

I bet we could of made a good run. But great buck none the less. Where did you hit him?

ryanaller 11-19-2007 08:18 AM

RE: 9-Official Team Thread

He was slightly quartered away from me and I hit him a little high but it did the trick. (knee is on top of the entry, to hide blood). I hit a little bit of gut and tore up 1 lung. Here's a rough drawing of my angle, ignore the broadside graphic and just look at the arrow angle.

CONGRAT'S on your Buck Ryan
Dont let Whetherour team get the points or not get you down you had a successful hunt andgot a Great Buck!!!!!

I got another buck yesterday morning in the park and got pic's this time using my sons camera and the pic's include with the bow ( even though it dosent count for the contest ) I will post pic's tommorow when my son gets back and he will download them off his camera onto my computer.
Till then I shot him at 30 yards and got the top of his heart and lung , he is a 9 pointer with a 21 1/8 tip to tip spread and a 20 1/2 inside spread.
I shot a doe at first light before him but hit another twig and the shot deflected to a gut shot [:'(], the blood trail was great and easy to follow till she bedded and then when she got up and moved we found no more blood, we looked for hours but only found someone elses doe from the day before that was a shotgun gut shot doe...the area is a mess of downfalls and briar thicketts so I know she is in there somewhere proabably closer to the river and I couldnt look any more since I had to go to work, the bowhunters will be in the area this morning so I know one of them will find her.

WOW, Tribal that is a beauty! I have to wait until after Dec. 9th to get back out with the bow.Gun season lasts until then.[&o]
But at least season goes until Jan 7th. I'm going to try using a blind in another spot where I shot at that buck. How's everyone's Thanksgiving going so far? I got to take my youngest one out for his first gun hunt ever, but unfortunately nothing showed up. Maybe Sat we'll go out. Have a great holiday weekend all!

I did manage to finally get one on the ground. Because of all the time I spent in the woods I am waayyy behind on things that need to be done around here so it will be a couple of days before I get all of the pertinent information posted. Being we are not really in the running it isn't going to matter what the numbers are anyway...

He isn't a monster but I bet he will scare 140....:)

Here's an interesting find. I was out on that private property, that I shot at the buck back in Nov., & there is a new set of very large buck printsin the snow. Only 2 days old.My guess is that old boy survived my shot. Unfortunately that land has been sold, so Ionly have may be this week or next to hunt it. Maybe the tides will turn in my favor. But I do have to go out & shoot my bow,it's been about a month now since Ishot it. talk to you all soon.

Awesome buck there Antler Eater! Well guys, last week while going out w/my son on that small parcel of private land, found out that land had been sold. My son & I were loading up the guns & this suburban pulls up. Turns out that was the new owner, who had signed the papers an hr previous. He was gracious enough to let us finish the hunt. So as for now my little piece of paradise is gone. Hopefully,He & I will get together so I can hunt back there. I don't think he hunts. Never will find out about that buck, bummer. I'm hoping to get out tommorrow afternoon on some public land. Good luck to whoever is still out there trying.

Rob/PA Bowyer;
I had no intentions of trying to enter my 1st buck in this contest after reading the rules .... since the pic of me with the whole deer ... not just the head... dosent have the bow in the pic, and that dosent fall within the rules of this contest:(Sucks being Me and Ryan:([:@]

Not my place to say I am not a Team Captain, but even the P&Y club allows entries of bucks that were not recovered in a timely period or without field photos under certain circumstances.
I would throw it out there and let the Team Captains decide.

Antler Eater, another great buck and storey, Congrats again!

I thought you said you hadn't seen anything good, sure that buck wasn't shot since I talked to you last time unless you found somewhere in western Iowa that doesn't have any snow?? Any way I would consider him a great buck... Good job Ken.

RE: 9-Official Team Thread

Bob,

Thanks, I was lucky without a doubt.

I'm not sure when I talked to you last....Until the last couple of days of bow season we didn't have snow. The big storm came in as you know opening day of the first shotgun season. I had to haul mail in it[:'(]. The buck I missed in my story we talked about on your porch when I brought your arrows over...I'm not sure when that was but it had to be after the middle of November because it was after my Uncle went home...:)

I finally have a chance to post my successful bowhunt this year. I was promoted to Hunting Manager of a local Outdoor Retailer, and the fall has been chaotic. I shot this buck on November 15th in the same stand that I shot the last two year's bucks out of. He scores 123 and change. I will post the measurements, and enter him officially in the near future. He came running into the clashing of horns, and I put a perfect shot on him at 10 yards. I was able to watch him lay down. It looks as though we have had quite the seasons on here. Congratulations to everyone!!

Hey all, got some good news. back in the hunt. Friend of mine owns some land in the CWD area. I can get the landowners permit from him, which means the hunt is on until Mar. So, hopefully I can get out next week & "get some" for our team.
