I use them with great results out of a whisker biscuit. I like them and would tell anybody to try them and see for yourself. The first few I fletch I had trouble with but I wasnt getting my shafts cleaned well enough. The last dozen I bought from bass pro on sale and they fly great!! Hope this helps. Waldo

SD, I can't help you with the Blazers, I still use aluminum arrows with feathers. I am still somewhat in the dark ages, I just gave up using fingers to go to a release last year...

Hey, I have an open invite to any teammate (MDbowhunter?)tocome to So MD and try a hunt on my farm (84 acres with about 15 acres in wildlife plot management) - pm me if you are interested.

AK, wish you lots of luck. Also wanted to say thanks for the challenge and offer in the contest, that's great. The only thing is the area I hunt has alot of pressure so seeing an animal of that calibur is rare, but not impossible. I'll do my best.

Our season in PA doesn't start until the 29th of September. If all goes according to plan that should be my first day in the stand.

Anyways, good luck, be safe and keep us informed.

As MD had said, our Maryland bow season opens 15 Sept. I will be out there. I hunt on a military base (qdm and tdm areas), and its tempting to hunt there first to take care of a earn-a-buck doe. But likely I'll start out on private land -- the big bucks will go nocturnal not toolong after the opener, and your first crack is usually the best chance you'll get. Still more scouting to do, then decision time...

Here in KS season starts Oct. 1. I have my eye on a really nice one. He is a basic 140"ish 10 but he has a 7"droptine. I have seen bigger bucks this year but that droptine I cant get out of my head. I live in a good area and dont see many droptine bucks, plus he was right in the general area where I killed my buck last year. Good luck to everyone. Waldo

Good morning team. I have a roll of film to get developed and will hopefully be posting a pic of some bucks!!! I will add 1 of a buck I got last year. It was in the same general area as where this last roll was taken. It looks as if we need to be called "SILIENT BUT DEADLY". Have we heard or e-mailed the 2 people on our team that havent responded? Actually do you guys think we should give them some time? The contest WAS scheduled for sept. 1st. Maybe we shoold give them a chance. From what I hear Hiawatha was a participant in years past so maybe we should just wait a litlle.

I agree with ya Mdbowhunter, if it was set to start on the 1st we should at least give them a few more days to be fair. Especially if they participated last year.

A few fawns in the apple orchard (I thinkshe may be a doe with triplets, looks to be too many legsaround the doe...) - the two deer in the background are also fawns (evident in the blowup of the original).

RE: 24-Official Team 24 Thread

Hey guys sorry i'm late but i am here. Been real busy with work, since May 15th i have had 5 days off and work away from internet access so I haven't been able to check in. Team name and avitar looks great nice job guys. A little about myself, I am 24 years old and from Northeast Saskatchewan. I have been bowhunting elk for 6 years now and this is my second year bow hunting deer. I also still rifle hunt deer jut archery extends my season. Elk season opens up here next monday and we are able to hunt deer also at the same time. I will be hunting farmland bordering a large provincial park for elk as well as deer. The kicker is though i do not have much time at all to hunt this year. I was away working seismic exploration all summer and never got any scouting in and just got home this weekend, season is a week away and i have nothing really set up for deer yet. I have my cameras out and have been out every night and at 4:30am every morning looking and have seen some really respectable bucks but trying to figure them out within the week will be the hard part. I am also a University student this fall and must leave for school 5 hours away on the 3rd of Sept and will not get many chances to return home this fall to hunt. So next week is i need to get my elk and hopefully at least one buck (we are allowed 2). Last night i stumbled across a great spot which had 3 bucks coming across a wheat field right by a large brush pile biggest would go high 150's. They were all shined up and looked great. A little later a small herd of elk came out and down the same trail through the wheat with one dandy bull in there, well dandy for this area anyways. We are allowed to shoot cows, calves, bulls with the bow if we choose, i need to eat in college so i will pull the pin on the first bull or cow i can.I want to get the elk out of the way so i can hunt deer. There doesn't seem to be as many elk around my spots this year as in the past and much of the crop has been swathed which will make it a bit more difficult. I have had great luck with archery elk never getting skunked but this year will be the real test of the skill i think. I have 2 large permanent stands up for elk as well as another small hayfield with bales i can use for cover which worked out great last year. I have 5 spots lined up for deer and have 2 cameras going at the moment, i will leave them there for another 2 days then rotate the cameras, get the film developed saturday afternoon then hang my stands up where i choose sunday to be ready for the main event monday. This is late i know but i had no choice work calls. Goin to be a rude busy week here on the farm as well, just finishing putting the tin on the barn today, then have to level out our grain bins as the moisture has caused them to sink a bit, change a pack of leaf springs in our grain truck, as well as put up 2000 second cut alfalfa square bales which i haul/stack in the barn and sell to outfiters for baiting. Lots of work but that hay pays my tuition as well as rent for the year at school. We will probably kick into harvest as well next week. All of the canola has been swathed but the wheat/barley still needs to come down and get in the bin. So next week it will be makin hay, harvesting and sometime in there arrow an elk and a buck lol. Oh what a rat race. I will maybe check in tonight and let you guys know what i see this evening in my travels.

Hey guys. Things are looking pretty good here the last 2 days for bucks anyways. I have been seeing good deer everyday now, no monsters but solid bucks. I was walking back in this one area i was thinking about hanging a stand and as i walked into this opening a dandy in velvet was standing there looking at me. He stood there the whole time as i went about my business and got out of there. I went back there today and hung a stand while a doe this time watched me the whole time. This is a great spot for me because the deer seem to move through there all day. Elk hunt in the evenings and hang out in that spot in the morning. I checked on my trail cams today also. The one had 8 pics in 2 days and the other had 26 pics in 2 days. Both were set to snap every 20min. Not sure what the problem was with the one cam as it did not seem to rewind my film, some of them may be damaged. Going to put some new batteries in there and see if that helps. Will get the film developed saturday and let u guys know what i find. The one spot that has 8 pics i am crossing my fingers that the buck i rifle hunted last year is on there. He was shot at /chased last year so i hope he was not wounded and made the winter for me. He is a pig oh lordy. Sure hope he made it. Good luck guys.

Went out this morning and had 25 elk come by but not quite close enough for a shot. Going out this evening again but hopefully i will have some better results. Been seeing some good deer still. One particular buck is on the land i am elk hunting. I had another dandy lined up next to my house on the nieghbors place. The owner gave me permission last week then called last night and changed his mind after i had a stand up and a great buck passing my stand everyday. I will move my stand over onto my place and hope i can draw him over. My trail cams were all filled up now, have the film out but the film machine at the pharmacy in town is down till wednesday or so, talk about annoying. Oh well i have to get an elk first anyways b4 i worry about a deer. Goose season also opens saturday and i have a nice flock scouted out but will have to see if my elk tag is filled by then or not. Hopefuly we draw some blood tonight.

We're rooting for you to get us on the board Hiawatha, good luck to you.

I've been seeing fair numbers of deer, but not much on the trail cam.

I've got a 3A sunflower field with a fairdove population, opening day is Saturday :). Dove hunting usually gets it all started, then 4 1/2 months of bowhunting; life is good...

Well 2 out of 3 of us tagged out last night on elk but i was the weak link. My partners each arrowed spike bulls last evening from their stands while i was on the ground 3/4 mile over in the bush. I had a spiker come in at 15 yards but he would not stand where i needed him to be so no shot. Had a cow come in close also but no shot. A little tougher hunting on the ground i have noticed lol. Oh well actually happy it never panned out as there was a big boy bugling out in the field while we were loading up the other elk last night. I went after him this morning but i could not draw him away from his cows. I had a 2 or 3 point bull come in this morning on a rope to a bugle but it was too early to shoot and he busted my balls. The boys have a real nice bull on cameralast night walking around down by them but he offered only a shot at 45-50 yards so they never took it. I am moving over towards where they were this evening to hunt out of my big permanent stand. I guess a bunch of cows came out there last night and that bull was over in that area as well. I'll set up the video camera tonight and see if i can get a kill on tape.

Good luck on your hunt AK.
