RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
fun2hunt those are some really nice bucks you got there, anyways i broke down and bought a climber tree stand its nice but it feels weird to be hunting off of something thats moves that much any ways i like it and ive only got 16 days left to season:)out.
|
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
I've always used climbers. Some of them come with a ratchet strap or lock-strap for the seat which helps to stabilize the whole set-up.
|
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
What kind of climber do you use?
|
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
Right now I have an API bowhunter. I've had it for about 10 yrs I think. It's pretty light and secure. The only draw back isit's not a sit and stand climber. you have to push down on each side andthe handles aren't well padded.
|
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
I bought a Comfort Zone Stealth Ascent its nice and its kinda heavy but hey you make do with what you got anyways im still counting down here in new york ddave hows the hunting going for you ?
|
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
I've almost bought one of those a couple of times. Looked like a good climber for the price. Sounds like its been a good one for you.
|
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
Is this opening weekend for anyone on our team?
|
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
Good luck and be safe to allof Team Quiet Arrow who are out this weekend! Hopefully we will have a buck on the board after this weekend. More importantly, be safe, enjoy the outdoors, and get refreshed.
|
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
Fun2hunt id reccomend this treestand to you i like it and its cheap for a climber
|
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
Thanks Greenboy I'll check it out online.
|
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
Do it its a good investment because you wont have to buy alot of tree stands to cover alot of spots you can just climb up the tree and bam youre at a new spot tommorow
|
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
Thanks.
Did anyone get any deer today? |
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
Hey guys. Friday night about 6:50 I hear a bunch of crashing coming through the woods behind me. At first I thought it was all the squirrels that I'd been watching but quickly realized the animals were heavier.I look over my right shoulder and catch a flash of gray. So, I swing to m left and don't see anything as the noise stops. The deer is right below my stand. It's a yearling and takes off running and I see another one following it.
So, I look over my right shoulder again and see a mature doe standing about 40 yds away looking at me. I figure I'm busted. Well, she then precedes to feed right up to me. I had about 3 chances at shots as she came but hey were all quartering toward me and she was still coming so I figured I'd wait. When she gets broadside at 6 yds or so she stops. Of course, she stops behind the 1 branch that I left on a tree beside me for cover. Without leaves I would have a shot. She raises her head and then lowers it while looking my way and then spins and runs 30 yds away and starts snorting. Saturday I didn't see a thing. I'm going to go look at the comfort zone or get a Summit Viper. I need a sit and stand climber. My API Bowhunter is just too hard on the hands anymore. |
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
Well Guys, Tomorrow is the day for me.. I'm not very excited though.. I have Crap for bucks on camera.. But I know that don't really mean anything.. Its early, and the big ones will eventually show their faces sooner or later.. Cooler temps next week are forecast, so thats good. I have a total of 6 stands set up.. Hopefully one of them will produce.. I know i could should one of those smaller 8, but I'm letting them go to grow for next year.. Or for the wife or my 75 yr old father to shoot.. He shot a small 10 last year I let go, but He doesn't have that many years left to hunt, so LET HIM RIP it THROUGH THEM..LOL.. I get just as excited when he shoots one as I do for myself.. Wife shot her first buck 3 years ago, small 8.. Hasn't shot anything since.. She only Rifle hunts, but last year we used a crossbow.. More of a challenge.. THis year I bought her a 30-30 and we also have the crossbow.. So hopefully she'll see one big enough to shoot.. Wish me luck, I'll be out tomorrow afternoon in one of them, depending on the wind...
Someone SHOOT A BIG ONE ALREADY...!!!! |
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
Dave I bet it was great to see the doe and your heart was pumping. You'll feel better once you get your stand situation settled.
Brad your right we still have time, good luck this week. So that buck you posted wasn't from your land on the mainforum? LOL Hey guys I had someone give me a rangefinder this week. I'm so excited and feel more confident about my shotsnow that I have that. Our season opens tomorrowbut I won't be able to get out until the 20th. I have a feeling Quiet Arrow will have one on the board before long. GoTeam 19!!! |
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
My buddy got that pic, but ended up telling me he got it from the web...
|
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
Another buck on the board this morning.
|
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
I'd like to know where the heck the arrow wounds are on these deer. Except for the muley none show any sort of wounds. Are they not getting passthroughs?
|
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
Good luck! I wouldn't be completely concerned with what you have gotten on camera!
|
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
hi guys...Well the opener is here, and wouldnt ya know it yesterday i came down with a heck of cold, sneezing ,coughing and the hole nine yards. I dont think im even going out this evening if i dont feel any better later today. But its early in the season and im not too worried even though never miss opening day[:@]
Good luck to the rest of you guys hunting. Im going to get out there as soon as i have enough energy to climb the tree, hopefully within a day or 2. |
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
I actually think I've seen it on the web. I'm sure your going to get another good one Brad.
Finner get some rest, we have time. Besides you need energy to pull that big guy out of the woods.:) Dave, I know what you mean, I think everyone is just trying to do their pics like on the "take quality pictures" post. |
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread

![]() ![]() Team 19 all the way!!!!!!!! |
CAUTION: LONG RANT
Well yesterday sucked.
First we I went duck hunting with my uncle. We got there really early so we could get the spot we wanted, right where the creek runs into the river. We beat one group of guys, who were cool and moved down the river. THen, at about 5 min after opening, some idiot walked right up to us. He said he saw the docoys but didn't know if anyone was hunting. He said he'd just be hunting up the creek with the wife and kid. Well OK, but you just ruined the first 15 minutes of shooting. After that, we saw a few ducks but couldn't get a shot. It slowed down really fast as it got light. Eventually, we see a duck coming from the creek behind us. Suddenly it gets shot. The moron is sitting 20 yards around the bend from us. We tell him he should really move because he is hunting right on top of us. Later we notice he is just standing further up the creek on the other side. He's right in the open. Ok it's not that bad, they're just stretching or whatever. A half hour later, they're still standing there, and we watched him for a while and they wouldn't sit down. somehow, a flock of geese somehow doesn't see him and flies right over him into our spread. Well he shoots at them and misses. Idiot. Eventually we just get pissed and leave. We didn't say anything because his wife and kid were with him. I'm pretty sure every duck or we could have seen or shot was scared away by him. At first, he was probably moving around and not very well hidden. After he moved, they were just standing/sitting in the open and turning everything away probably. On top of it all, his goose call was terrible and he wouldn't shut up all day. Well later we notice the guy is just standing in the open across the creek. Sorry for the rant, I just hate idiots like that. Here comes the worst part: ![]() ![]() It looks like it was shot. It didn't look like it was hurting or anything. It wasn't acting too strange when my dad saw it. He didn't even realize it until after he had a shot. I saw it too, but it was dark and I couldn't see the wound. I didn't have a shot. I wouldn't normally shoot a doe with it's fawn. Im know that by now fawns will survive, but still. Plus I know that the bucks are gonna come because of the does. I feel really bad for the deer, but it didn't seem like it was suffering. I wonder if it will survive. Should I shoot it if it's still alive next weekend, or will it make it? I know that Deer and Deer Hunter show disspelled the myth of the no man's zone, but Im a believer for now. People who are irresponsible and don't practive enough and make poor shots shouldn't hunt. But i guess it happens. Or maybe the arrow hit a stick or something. A buddy of mine shot one earlier this year. He said he hit it high and trailed it for a long time but the blood stoped and he never found the deer. and I know he is a good shot and practices a lot. So I won't judge the guy that shot this yet. It's sad. Last year I saw a deer that had a broadhead cut in the hair along the side. It seemed like it must have been a shot from like ten yards from a treestand with the deer facing directly toward or away from the shooter. Now that's irresponsible and a terrible lucky miss (again, assuming it actually was from a broadhead). |
19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
Mark,
I hope you feel better. I've been battling a cold for a while now and know how you feel . It sucks sitting in the woods when you don't feel good and then start hacking up some stuff to clear your throat. You're better off taking care of the cold first. Jarrod, Sorry about your duck hunt. Some people have no respect for others and I'll bet the guy figured he'd shoot at any ducks or geese that were heading to your decoys. That's just not right in my book. Especially with the wife and kid along. I'm a peaceful man. However, I would have went over there and politely asked him to move in front of his wife and kid. Explain to him that he's creating an unsafe situation for them by bringing them that close and in the line of fire from your group. That deer was definitely shot. Also, the void exists on deer. Shooting from the ground it is easy to shoot above the lungs and below the back and get a passthru shot that does not kill the deer. That deer was probably shot at from a person on the ground and 1 of 2 things happened. Either the person shot high (by misjudging the distance or is a bad shot)or the deer tried to duck the arrow and the arrow still hit her. I'd shoot her the next time you get a chance. Even if there's a possibility of a full recovery it's still the humane thing to do. However, that's just my opinion. That's your call though. She may look perfectly healthy but have an infection internally and not survive if the temps drop suddenly. Oh, please don't change the subject line next time. We need to keep the Team 19 in our subject for official reasons. You can put the Caution at the beginning of your thread if you'd like. |
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
I agree with Dave on all counts.Mark you have an entire season in front of you get well first so you can enjoy yourself out there and not make yourself sicker.Jarrod some folks are intent on doing what they want to do and they don't care who it negatively effects,The guy was an a-- plain and simple. No win situation though, you don't want to embarass yourself by going off on the guy,and your hunt is ruined. As far as that doe is concerned if you have an opportunity to take her I would,I don't know how many tags you are permitted?
She may be fine but she may not be as well. Her fawn will be fine, and better for the doe to die quickly and cleanly versus how she would pass if she had an infection. |
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
Im feeling quite a bit better today im gonna get out this evening there's a front racing in from the west and there calling for rain so they should be moving. As long as my cough dont kick in ill be in good shape. I cant wait to sit the tree, work cant get over soon enough today. wish me luck guys.
|
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
Mark, have an awesome time tonight. Enjoy relaxing in the outdoors and bring some venison home.
|
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
Mark,
Good luck. If you feel any chills or feel tired when you are in the tree head home. The first dayI stuck it out all day and got rained on. Even with rain gear I got the chills and my cold has been hanging on. |
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
WVhunter
bowdeadly nwochuck Hi guys, just wondering if your seasons are open and what you are seeing?WVhunter I think yours isn't open until the 15th if I remember right. |
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
This login drives me nuts.
Well I guess I'll take it if I have a chance to. It will suck if it is infected. I shot a little buck last year that had a graze wound on the side. After we skinned it there was yellow goo or puss or something all along the inside. We didn't keep much of the meat, which is a shame. Doe tags are cheap anyway. |
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
I just shot a 10 pointer under the Back Porch SPotlight.. He's HUGE.. :D
|
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
Did you get a good picture? LOL[8D]
|
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread

I dreamed about my bowhunt all night last night and its still 2 weeks away!I went through my checklistin my sleep and woke up with things I need to doon my lunch break. :DAlso I woke up to 56 degree this morning which is awesome. I am so pumped to get in a stand. 16 days...
|
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
mike,
You must be going nuts. At least the full moon will be gone by the time yu head out. it's causing me issues. I hunt until dark and come in the next day andthere are deer turds all over hte place from them feeding at night. |
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
Good pointDave, that will be a plus. It's hard waiting, the anticipation has been building since my last hunt on 12/31/06. It's been a long wait and I'm ready to get in the woods. I just bought my batteries at lunch for my new rangefinder, I'm looking forward to trying it out tonight.
Well, for you guys up north the pre-rut should be kicking in 2-4 weeks before us here in OK. Might be a good weekend to start calling or rattling. |
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
Iwon't be able to get back out until the October 12 due to work and family responsibilities. I'm looking forward to that weekend though. It should feel a lot more like archery season then the past 2 weeks have.
I see a guy finally got a normal sized whitetail instead of these 125" plus bucks it seems everyone is shooting. |
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
10 days to season ladies:D
and i can tell you this is one kid that is practically dying with anticipation by the way jarrod dont worry about the doe shell be fine ive seen deer with legs completely blown off that survived and came through she will be fine |
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
The later we get into Oct the better everything will be with the cooler weather. Nathan I like your enthusiasm. I can't wait to see how this season turns out for you.
|
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
Wow, did you guys see Franks buck? Well, like Dave has said a couple of times the teams that winall or almost allparticipated and got a buck even if some were small. That is the key for us, to make it a team effort.
I tell you what I didn't geta buck with a bowlast year and I will be really thankful to get one even if its not one of those giants. |
RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread
That's a wild rack. These guys must all be using expandable blades that there isn't any sort of entrance wound on these deer.
It's been a few years since I got one. I'm feeling good about the area I hunt now though after all the scouting I did Saturday. I found 2 cattle trails coming down a hill with a nice trail running parallel to the top and a few old rubs. the area also had some nice sized beds and a field about 200 yds away and is secluded. |
