RE: 43- Official Team Chaos Thread

Well I got out tonight in my subdivision. Had 2 does feeding 41 yards away. They never knew I was there, but did not come any closer. I will not shoot that far in my subdivision. I want a slam dunk, not a tracking job thru a bunch of yards.

Then as soon as I started walking back to my truck, the coyotes lit up not toooooo far away. I KNOW they probably won't bother me, but that really doesn't help much when I am walking out in the dark and they are yipping and barking what seemed like maybe 50 yards away. But I made it.:)

Then when I get home and go to hang up my bow. I notice 2 of my fibers are hanging off of my sight. Closer examination reveals one has pulled out of the pin and the other is broken off about an inch from the pin. So I did a little repair work and got them back in the pins and secured. As soon as I get home tomorrow I am gonna shoot a bit and make sure I am still on target. Then planning to hunt again tomorrow.

Good luck to all of you whose seasons open this weekend or on Monday. I will be hunting in IL on Monday. Taking a day of vacation.

John, you've got deer action and no idiots wandering around you! That's an improvement.

Tonight was my best night shooting my bow in a while. It was one of those rare nights where even
when I didn't feel like I made a great shot it found the 3" circle. Anyway, I'm really happy with my switch
to the Strikers. The last thing I wanted when out there was having a second thought that I can't
hit where I aim. They were flying so well, I went ahead and marked those as my hunting arrows.
I'm ready to get on stand.

BUT I'm just as ready to see somebody post some #%#^ antler on this Team!

That's gonna happen soon I predict. The right states seasons are opening up this weekend and Monday. That will help.

Glad to hear you got your arrows hitting where you want, Lebeau. This game is a big part mental. Confidence can give you a big advantage when you are out in the woods

John

Coyotes are chickens but curious in the dark. I would rather have a pack of yotes yippen at me only yards awaythen walking throughan area of freshly dug badger holes in the dark. You know he is in one of them.He waits till youare stepping over the hole to growl at youand let you know he is there. Thank Gawd he is the only one to hear your girly scream.[:o] :D Come to think of it.. walking up on a skunk in the dark sucks too!!

Maybe it's starting to happen, guys (and lady;)). I don't have crop fields where I hunt......they're to the east, west and south of me. When they get on the mast crops, though....then I have my chance.

I saw 2 six pointers on opening day.....but haven't seen a buck, since. Last night....I saw the same 2 six pointers....hard antlers and all.....and they fed below me until after dark fell. Coulda shot either of them....but it's not what I'm looking for. They're both 1.5 yr olds.

Hopefully, though....it's a sign of good things to come.

I'll report back, regularly.

Hunted a stand last night I have hunted twice so far this season. Had a small 4x4 buck bedded in the thick cut over about 100 yards from the stand. I slipped in by him at a snails pace and got set up. I had the perfect wind all evening. I watched a lot of does and few elk down in the bottom ground with my binocs...Up on the mountain in the saddle I was in, nothing but the little buck got up and fed around. It was a nice evening. I got my new camera yesterday, so I took some pictures. The full moon was really cool looking last night. I was really suprised nothing slipped out under my stand into the cut over to feed..but then again with the moon the big boys are waiting till well after dark.

I got home 1 hour after darkand had a bull elk, few cowsand 5 youngbucks out in front of my place feeding in the moon light. Oh I saw 2 other young bucks and 5 does driving out. No big boys anywhere..

Good luck this weekend guys! I am looking forward to hearing back from you.
