RE: Hmmm

I am gonna give it a couple more shots this weekend then it's all over for me. MO closes on the 15th and IL closes on the 17th. I can still shoot a buck in MO, but does only in IL.

This has been a fun season being on Team Chaos. We certainly had the liveliest thread in the contest. I'll have to ask Justin if we set a record for # of posts in one thread.

Stay in touch GUYS.

John, most definately I look forward to keeping in touch .. You had a great season John, considering all you went through..

Gary, sorry about the father and the tough season, those tough ones as you know only make us better.. imo

Honestly.. thats more than a lot of seasoned bowhunters will ever get to experience.. I appreciated your honesty too in your threads this year.. about every shot... the mishaps and tough times not edited out! Good luck next fall.

Arrow, you really worked hard this year, I wish you could have scored.. I hope we can stay in touch!

Rob, I hope you get that first buck kill! enjoy those harleys and your new places to hunt!

Will, hope all is well with you and yours.. Let me know if your coming out for bear! It looks like my cousin will be up one3 day weekend to film me

Hunt lady.. hope all is well with you and yours..

Well

Headed out hunting next weekend, wanted to go this week but too busy. I just arrange it with the wife. I will be in Ohio and I am not going to be picky. I will be hunting public land.

RE: Hmmm

My season is over. MO season closes Jan 15th and IL closes the 17th. I went out tonight and saw 2 does in the neighborhood, just not close enough for a shot. By the time I get home from workthere isn't enough time to shower and get in the woods. So unless there is one standing in my yard and I can sneak out of the house after him I am calling it quits.

I've had a good season this year. Got a good buck and took a doe in the neighborhood. I have killed more in other years, but my priorities have changed lately. I am more into quality now, and not shooting every doe that walks by just in case a big buck might be following her.

It was pleasure being a member of Team Chaos this season. WE had high expectations and had some other teams scared at the begining of the season. Things just didn't work out for enough of us this year. Good luck to the rest of you guys and gal in the upcoming seasons. And I am sure I will be hearing from most of you on here again. Maybe even meet a few at this years get together, or possibly share a hunting camp in the future.

Take care,
John

RE: Hmmm

Enjoyed the team this year. Great group of guys. Wish we could have all hunted together, drank beer
and shot the breeze.

Troy, I'm mulling it over. About to start building a new house and with 5 week old, it is becoming a very
tough decision. I will PM you shortly.

Sorry I couldn't come through this year team - had an early chance and blew it. IMO, that deer is dead,
hasn't showed up on any cam since. :(

As I told you guys, I hunted the rut last weekend (it's true). Dad got a nice 100" 8 point that weighed
210lbs, buddy saw a nice 7 point, but passed (needs 1 more year), and I saw the beast of our woods
- a 10 point that I have been told is about 140". There is a reason those bucks get old (as the
cliche goes). As you guys may know, we have palmettos which don't allow you to see for 3 or 4 feet.
Well, I found a rubline along this ditch and hunted it in the morning. The wind was good all morning
and according to forecast (N to NW). About 7:30, first saw his rack about 200 yards coming from the
NNE. I could not get a good look at his body, as he moved slowly and stayed hidden (using the ditch,
brush and palmettos). He slowly (very slowly) took about 15 minutes to work his way to about 100
yards (I mostly got glimpses of only antler). Around this time I noticed that some strong gusts started
blowing straight out the west. I could have probably taken a neck shot at 100 yards (rifle), but
(1) didn't think it was high percentage, (2) couldn't get a great look, and (3) thought he might work
towards me. Well, instead of cutting over this small ridge about 50 yards away (where the deer trail is
and I expected him to go), he looped down and directly downwind. Then I just saw his arse crashing
away. It was intense though! I didn't move a muscle, so I'm pretty sure it was my scent (I showered,
washed clothes, and all the precautions, but it's no match for a mature buck's nose).

I'm going to try again in a couple weeks (with bow). I've still got some ideas. The bucks are finally
moving. I think I found the big boy's bedding area. It will take some luck though! It's been a rough
year, but a good learning experience (some here, and some out in the field).

Enjoyed the team this year. John and Troy, those are some impressive animals!

Thanks again for captaining the ship, Germ!
