Hey guys, just checking in...

I know its late but what are your thoughts on getting a new bow this close to the season??

I have been drooling over new bows for the past 2 years but I never pull the trigger...I already have all the accessoreies to go on a new bow, but I wonder how comfortable I would be by the time the season comes...

I am currently shooting the bow I started with and I know it does not fit me properly anymore (kids grow up), but I still shoot very well with it and I know its limitations...

Let me know what you all think
I say go for it. If you got a good form and can shoot, you won't have an issue with a new bow.

MD, I'm having a hard time coming up with something that matches "busting nuts" but I'm still thinking here... (yes that's the burning smell):D
It's hard to get bowhunting, nuts and something breaking in an avatar while still making it look cool.

I sat down last night and tried to brainstorm what our avatar would look like. Then the smoke detector went off and I had to evacuate my building. For some reason that always happens when I am in deep thought.

I was thinking we could play off of a big buck eating some acorns with a bowhunter in the stand. But how can you get the point across that the nuts are acorns?

Then I started having problems with A.D.D. and the next thing you know, I have Mr. Peanut with a bunch of arrows through him. Figuring that's not the direction the team wants to go, I called it a night.

Bustin The Nuts.....on a family website = tough design.

Yea, I have been brainstorming for a few days too, and haven't really came up with much. This is a tough one.

I'm gone for a couple of days and this place becomes mass pandemonium with DWD spreading nasty rumors about the "quality" of deer I try and kill (I'm stepping it up this year DWD, nothing less than 26 inches will do) Dave continually trying to "Bust Our Nuts" but falling short....MD actually trying to get a picture of himself kicking someone else in the nuts for our "Team Avatar".....

All of this got me thinking. If a nut breaks in a forest, does anyone hear it?

How about like an acorn(nut) getting shot in two by an arrow with a buck in the background with his eyes all wide. haha

Bols 08-26-2007 08:46 PM

RE: 26-Official Team 26 "Bustin' The Nuts" Thread

I was thinking a complete pass thru arrow, all bloodied up, cracking an acorn in half, with blood just spewing out of the double lunged deer in the background.

Any takers?

Hey guys, Davepjr is going to post some pictures in a thread called Baltimore Bowmen under the bowhunting section. Check em out.

Dave and I shoton the North side of Baltimore this evening. We shot a 30 target course and went for kill shots instead of scoring shots.

Enjoy!

Well guys it was a good weekend for me. The monsoons let up and allowed me to disc and plant my fall plots. Finished seeding Sunday night. Than right on cue it started raining overnight, could not have planned it any better. Planted Buck Forage Oats in two spots and clover with winter wheat in another.

Another thought on an avatar is An arrow going at a Crazy (Nuts) looking/acting buck.

I like the thread guys. . .seems like you did a good job practicing for season. I sometimes wish the scoring rings more closely resembled shot for hunters. I seemed to always shoot for the kill and end up getting a 5. That was before I started to figure out where the scoring rings were.

Good pictures Dave, thanks for sharing guys.

Can you post a pix of it? Or have someone watch it as you draw back. Look for a burr on the cam or anything that could be wearing on it.

Ughh......I just noticed that it's like that in a few spots, so I don't think its the cam doing it. The bow is only a year old, and now I am going need new strings and cables...I don't have the money for this[:@][:@][:@]

Hey guys...

I just ordered a Switchback LD from the local archery shop, it should be here around the middle of next week. This should be a big step up from my starter bow (a PSE Nova).

The season starts saturday september 8th, so hopefully I will be comfortable with the new bow...if not I will just use the old dog!

Congrats on the new bow. I bet you will be using it on opening day. I bought a Drenalin this year and love it. Good luck on the opener.

My last post for a while as I leave for Idaho elk in the am. Due to the fires out there we have to go to a different place than planned.

How bad is this fraying? It is cutting any strands on the string, or it is just really fuzzy?

How long has it been since you have thoroughly waxed the string and cables?

Post pictures if possible as well. If you haven't waxed the strings in a while, I would try there first. If you have waxed it and it is possiblea strand is cut, I would take it to a pro shop to have it professionally inspected.

I am leaning towards the fact that some string wax might solve your problems.

I tryed to take pics, but you cant see the detail in them. I have waxed it, and it didn't help. And so far that I can tell, its just really fuzzy.

I don't see anything that throws any red flags, thats what I don't understand. Its just fuzzy in about 4 places

RE: 26-Official Team 26 "Bustin' The Nuts" Thread

Personally, I would keep those areas waxed well and shoot the bow.

Keep an eye on those specific spots during season. . .don't shoot the bow if you see a torn strand.

Unless you are going to be shooting it a ton during season, you should be able to make it through hunting no problem.

No problem bro. Just keep an eye on things and let us know if something changes.

I would look into getting a good custom set of strings in the offseason. Gibblet has some solid strings for reasonable prices.

Holy crap. I had a PSE Nova (purchased 1994). I loved that bow and had the opportunity to take a few deer with it. Last year I passed that bow down to my father and bought a '06 SBXT. I love my bow and have plenty of fun shooting it. Welcome to the Mathews Family!
