I had that same trespasser threaten me with an axe this weekend (while I was holding a BP rifle). So we had the middle of the day tied up with the County Sheriff. Sheriff wasn't too helpful and was only willing to give the guy a criminal trespass warning.

As far as hunting; Friday was bow only and I had several does just out of range and my buddy arrowed a 7 pointer. It was a good hit, he could see blood coming out of the entrance wound 2/3 of the way up his body behind the shoulder,but the angle was steep and he may have only hit one lung. We lost the trail and spent several hours looking for it but couldn't find it. Saturday I had my bow and gun up in the stand with me and this time the does came within range. I got a hit on a nice mama doe and had good blood but she made it across the creek onto the neighboring property. After the run in with the trespasser and the sheriff involved I wasn't going to get caught trespassing to get the deer. We didn't know who the owner of that property was either so we couldn't get permission. :( Didn't see anything else that evening. I'm taking off Thursday, Friday, and Monday. I'll be BP hunting but will have my bow with me too. If I get a nice one with the BP I'll revert to bow. Lots of movement. We were seeing deer move as late as 10:30 until we had the run-in with the crazy axe man. Lots of road kills too.

well this weekend went off without a hitch.... we shot 10 deer total with 3 being spike bucks.... don't know why you would shoot a spike but it happens.... i personally shot 3 does with my 7mm... love that gun..... was awesome and now it is time to go strictly buck hunting!!!! bring on the antlers baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am feeling damn good after this weekend.... i am so happy and i want to get out there now!!!! IT IS SNOWING!!!! yes.... Talk to everyone later

Forgot to mention had 12-16 turkey pass just outside of range friday evening, and a three pointer come right under my stand that I played around with using grunt calls. None of the deer seem phased by doe/buck grunts and bleats, except the 3 pointer who seemed to come back but was nervous.

I had a pretty uneventful weekend. I saw a few feral hogs and shot a coyote but no deer sightings. My BIL saw a small 6 and passed. This was opening weekend of gun season here in Tx. Most openers sound like a war zone, not this year. I only heard 3 shots all weekend and spent most of the weekendin the woods. I would have spent more time but my wife told me there'd be trouble if I didn't spend some time on the tractor!

Back To the TOP!I will be going home this weekend to get some hunting in. Might take a loner doe might not...Im torn. Its my first year bow huntingso I dont want to be too picky, but on the other hand I know the bucks are around and I have a lot of time coming up. As I'm typing this I am leaning more towards waiting on the doe. I have passed on a lot of does and one small 5 point, so Im hoping that it will turn into good karma and a nice buck will give me a shot soon! Good Luck To everyone else out hunting this week!

Hey guys been awhile since i've been on here. Shotgun season started Saturday so I've been busy with that. Our party has shot 3 wallhangers so far a 10 and two 9 points. I passed up the biggest deer I have ever passed up tonight. He was a 10 point probably about 3 years old, I'm guessing he would probably score in the low 120's, I was kind of second guessing myself for awhile but I am glad I let him walk, My uncle has seen a buck in the area that has dwarfed all three of the bucks we shot so far with the biggest being in the mid 140's.

Mike sorry to here about your trip to Ontario, guess you can look at it as a good lessoned learned.

my cousins 9 point - The DNR aged it a 5 1/2 years old by pulling a tooth and examining it.

Nice Deer The FF. I have been smoke pole hunting all week and haven't seen any shooters just young bucks and tons of does but the bucks are getting frisky and pestering the hell out of the does chasin them around and sparring. So it is heating up around here it will be good towards the end of the week and all of next week when bow is open back up. Gun season opens in 2 weeks so it will be time to get the ol .308 ready to do it usually thing at laying the deer down. We can kill 3 does a day all during season so that is when We get all of our meat the last week of gun season. We make a game and see how good we are at taking long range shots.

I was out saturday and missed a 7 pointer, then I missed a doe.. I havent missed a deer in 7 years and I generally kill 3-5 deer a year. So after missing the doe the week before i had to check my sights. I went sunday morning to the range and low and be hold my sights were off. After a slight adjustment im back on.. This saturday ends bow season in PA until December 26
