We haveexperienced a pretty bad drought this summer. I don't think we will be having a very good acorn
crop this year. What are some of the favorite foods in your hunting areas?

I pretty much try to hang out around the white oaks myself. I think ours are doing to hot either this year.[&o]

Spent Sunday and Monday morning scouting and setting up stands. The spot I described in an earlier post is showing some good sign. Trails are still being used and a few acorns starting to fall. Not as many as there was in past years. Everyone thinks it was the late frost we had put a hurt'n on the acorn crop. Sunday evening I spent sitting in a box blind overlooking a sorghum food plot with my camera. Deer were in there stripping the seed pods off like it was candy. I had a decent 8pt, 2 six pts, a 4 pt, 3 spikes (all in velvet except the 8pt) and about 15 does with about 100yds. We have a rule on the propery of no hunting within 500yds of the food plots.

I am sooooo ready for this season to start!!!!

Hey everyone, just a word of caution for safety's sake. BE CAREFULL out there. I don't know how many of you use safety harnesses but it probably is a good idea. Myself i have'nt been, but I may be rethinking after yesterday. I climbed up into one of mystands yesterday to see if i needed to trim a tree. I stepped into it and half a second later i was lying on my upper back and shoulders with my feet in the air at the base of the tree. Man did that hurt on the way down as my arms scraped the bark off and hit limbs. I was trying to hold onto the pine tree as I slid down it. OUCH!! It was a hang-on stand and the ratchet strap stiching broke. A day later i'm really starting to feel it. Swollen and bruised in places but lucky nothing worse. Just everyone be careful out there. I would hate for someone to get in a hurry and get hurt.
